If I order a few pairs of shoes and do a test run (like, literally, run for 30 seconds to a minute) on my home treadmill . . . will they still take them back? DH says no. I say yes. I need to try a few new running shoes and the ones I want to try are on sale for really good prices. I made the mistake with my last pair (that I bought for full price at my local running store) of not asking to get on their treadmill with them and didn't realize I hated them til I'd done a run outdoors (I maybe could have brought them back, but I felt like a jerk doing that, since I'd run outside in them.)
Yes, I tried and returned like 5 pairs before I found the 6th pair. I ran with all of them on my treadmill to reduce the wear on the shoes. I called their CS and they were totally fine with it.
Wonderful, thanks, ladies! I really hate what I'm running in now. I did go to my local running store yesterday, but the prices are just more than I can afford right now (damn you, daycare.)
I would also chime in and say don't feel bad about taking shoes back to your LRS, even if you've been outside with them. They can send them back to the manufacturer, so don't feel like you are screwing them over. Everyone just wants you to have a pair of shoes you're happy with.
'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather, to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming 'Woohoo! What a ride!' So every day is a holiday and every meal a feast."
