I always loved going back to school. I just walked by the school here and I could smell their lunch room. It smelled just like mine growing up. My mom never sent me to school with a lunch - I always bought mine. My favorite school lunch was the square pizza slices. I'd get that and then take money out of my account to get this blue kool aid and a fudge round.
What was your favorite school lunch? Or what was your favorite packed lunch meal?
I don't remember what I had in grade school or middle school but in High School we had a closed campus so they brought in Pizza Hut and Taco Bell and most days lunch was a Snickers bar and french fries. Ahhh the joys of youth and a crazy high metabolism.

I loved sub day at the school cafeteria. My mom always made me the same lunch, a ham and cheese sandwich, lol. I loved sub day because the sandwich was HOT. FANCY! We usually brought our lunch except for sub and pizza days.

Oh and NOW, one of the schools serves this great chef salad, and another has really good wraps. You have to order them ahead of time or the stupid kids eat them all, they're amazing.

My highschool would make these awesome deli-type sandwiches. I'd get turkey on a kaiser roll with provolone, lettuce, tomato & oil & vinegar...nom.
This is the first time in 20 years that I am not going back to school in the fall I would love to get an in-school therapy position so that I would never have to leave.
I remember lining up for milk break early in elementary school, then sitting in a row in gym to drink it. Aaaah. I remember popping the little square carton open. I typically chose chocolate milk (who wouldn't?) and I can remember just the way it smelled.
I loved this ham, cheese, mustard, bread casserole bake thing. I don't remember what it was called. That was my favorite! I would make it at home, today, if I had the recipe. I need to search for it.

Our cafeteria has these things called warm cheese sandwiches. They were on a round roll, with some kind of indeterminate kind of cheese, and you got red sauce on the side. It's a THING. A Bambi thing. Oh my god. Now I try to make them for Friday night dinner sometimes. So. Good.

I HATED chocolate milk. Strawberry milk, though, mmmmmmmm. They have blueberry and creamsicle now.

Ah, the rectangular pizza. MMmmm.
I also liked the breaded chicken patty sandwiches and the hot turkey sandwiches.
Oh, and at my high school every so often they'd have "whip-n-chill pie," which was basically chocolate jello pudding mix (some kind of mousse mix, I think?) on a graham cracker crust. DELICIOUS.
That school menu is awesome. It cracks me up when I think of our prices - lunches were $.60 and a carton of milk was $.06. I remember counting out six pennies every morning to take to school.

Tuesdays were chicken sandwiches and the best damn french fries EVER in high school. I always bought that lunch. My favorite, though, was Italian subs, which we only had about twice a year. If it was sub day you had to haul ass to the cafeteria because all 800 of us were going to be buying lunch for sure.
I don't remember loving any packed lunches, but I do remember that in 7th grade I ate sandwich pepperoni on an egg roll every single day. Healthy!

In HS, I would regularly eat a soft pretzel with cheese and an ice cream cone for lunch. Super healthy, huh? And my 16-year-old self never gained an ounce of weight!

In high school we had a breakfast quesadilla that was so delicious I still dream about its cheesy goodness, it was more like a breakfast burrito but it was so good they call it what ever they wanted to.

OMG I forgot I used to always get three cookies and a fruit punch. My mom would have killed me if she knew that is what I ate daily.
