Yuck, we always needed freon when this happened. Of course one guy told us our unit was under sized for the house. Texas with a crap AC unit is no joke!!
I live in MI and I'd be ready to kill people if it was that hot in my house! It's supposed to be near 90 for the next couple of days and I'm already dreading it.
Side note: When I was in San Antonio I was chingando about the heat and my cousins said I was a wimp, "Ay prima, it's only 97! You're such a wimp! Wait until it gets to be 110!"
I said, "Oh yeah, come to MI in February when there's 14 inches of snow and it's -15 below zero. We'll see who the wimps are then!"
I'm in MN and you can laugh at me. But this morning when I woke up it was 78 in the house. It's going to be close to 100 today and we DON'T have AC. I'm getting the fuck out of the house for the rest of the day. I'm dreading going to sleep tonight.
NOTHING is worse than when it gets super hot in places where it doesn't normally get that hot, so there's no a/c. I grew up in a old house in upstate NY - summer nights could be miserable b/c it was SO HOT in the house because we had no a/c. Everything is super a/c'd in TExas - to the point that stores, etc. are freezing.
But I'm laughing b/c we keep our apt. at 77-78 in the summer - it's so hot outside that we find it comfortable.
As a side note, I don't get how all of you americans don't freeze in your houses in the summer. I start the a/c only once it hits 79-80 in the house. And even then, it is mostly just to cut the humidity and bring it down to like 76.

I won that one.
I'm in MN and I will take that cold and snow a million days over the 95 and humid BS that we're having this week.
The weather guy said this morning, "remember today come January when we're under two feet of snow and it's 10 below!" And I thought, "I will think of today, and give thanks for every flake of snow and negative degree on the thermometer." I am NOT a summer person. At all.

My best friend lives in Arizona and her AC went out a few weeks ago around 9pm. It was 90 degrees in the house! She called her management company and told them it was an emergency and they needed to come out and fix it. They were like "this isn't an emergency, we'll come out tomorrow afternoon." Luckily they were sympathetic when she told them she has a 9 month old baby.

I forgot how cold department stores and grocers are until we got back here. It's ridiculous.
We have no a/c here in NYC---hopefully these will be last of the hot temps for the summer.
