I'm not sure you should be, lol. The house I'm buying hasn't been updated in 15 years.
Be jealous of all the work I need to do!
I am! I really really really want to paint my walls, but is it worth all the trouble to deal with the LL and get permission and blah, blah, blah.
There are so many ways I could improve my hellhole of a kitchen to make it bearable, but... you know. I rent.
I am incredibly jealous.
Ah, I understand. I'm where you are now. I'd love to rip out some wallpaper and carpet in my apartment, but ... a much as I like my LL, it's not worth it.
I just didn't want anyone to get the idea that I'm moving into a bright and shiney new home in the 'burbs! It's a fixer in a city that's going to take years to get where I want it to be.

Muddled. My landlord loves that I upgrade my apartment. She hasn't raised our rent in over 3 years. She let's me paint and I think I'm going to add hardware to the kitchen cabinets soon. I also want to it hardwood floors in but I might actually talk to her about that before I do it.
Talk to them, I add value to the apt. Your landlord might surprise you!

I really am considering talking to them about painting, but I might be too lazy to move all my furniture around. lol
I am not making any upgrades to this apartment. There is absolutely no reason for me to add value to someone else's property.

Muddled. Paint! It makes a world of difference. I've had neighbors come over who live in the same apartment and they don't even feel like it is the same space.

My LL wouldn't have an issue with cabinet hardware, but they wouldn't let me paint.
I don't see how a tenant putting in new floors is worth it, unless the LL pitched in half the cost. Maybe if you don't see renting as a short term thing, like say you live in New York.

partiallysunny, that is a weird thing to care about. We plan on renting here for at least 5 more years. Probably more. It has been 3 already.
I was thinking for floors I could convince my landlord to pay for the materials and I would pay for the labor. And by pay I mean do it myself... Finding pins in carpet it really hard.
Also, yay PS! I love fixing things so I am jealous of your house. Are you still liking your job?
My happy thing is that I am still in bed with River snuggling on my chest. Soon I will get up and make coffee.
I'm jealous you're still in bed snuggling your cat.
I like it. I'm still a bit bored (can you tell by how much I've been on here? Lol). But I know it'll pick up. Everyone on my team going on vacation hasn't helped either.

If it helps, he just turned around so his smelly butt is right next to my face.
I feel like once you get more used to your job it will get less boring. You will end up finding a bunch of things that need to be done that will occupy your free time. But, don't find so many that you can't come here and hang out with us!
I guess my good news is that I'm also still in bed snuggling my cat. One of the things I've liked about this time off is getting in LOTS of kitty snuggles.

Yay for new homes and vacations!!
I'm a little short on good news today, but I did find out the my bosses are going to pay me extra for working on Saturday... I'm a salary employee, so I was not expecting it (and I didn't do it for money anyway). But the "few hours" turned in to a total of 10, so that'll be nice to have.
Other than that... Um... it's a beautiful, sunny day?
I have another happy thing, I got these really cute giant buttons to hang on the wall in my sewing room but I had to paint them because they were weird colors. They're painted and up and I think they're adorable! Squee!

I kind of want to repaint my room at my parents house... but it hardly seems worth the effort at this point. Maybe new bedding would make it better. Right now, we have my sister's old bedding on the bed and it's very dark, earthy tones... I think I want something brighter, more cheerful... This maybe a good use for some of the extra money I'm getting from work? I don't want to spend a million bucks on it, but something new and MINE would be nice.
