i never make a pot. i need like A cup. and i want it fast. and i don't have the inclination to get a keurig because they're HUGE and pricey. i need to save counter space, especially as shortly the gigantic bottle drying rack will be coming back.
i'm inclined to go with the one you can use regular scoops with because i feel like pods and k cups are an environmentally unsound racket designed to force me to spend lots of money on stuff.
Why not go with a Chemex? Green, easy, quick and no counterspace. Tastes more like drip coffee than french press does, and no sediment. Also, cheap---under 35.
I have one or two individual cups of coffee every morning. I don't like to make a pot of it because it'll go to waste. I have a pot that makes the hot water and I have a filter cup that fits over my coffee cups. I stuff in a filter, add a scoop of freshly ground coffee and walla! One cup of coffee--no fuss, no muss.

i don't know what that is.
flex, i do too. and i NEVER use it. this is also why i don't cook. i like to just push buttons and make the food happen. pouring? watching stuff? ew. lol.
i ruled out the nespresso for size and cost (every 1/4 inch counts in my kitchen). since i don't want to break the bank if i don't end up using this coffee maker either. plus then i'm locked into buying nespresso thingies.

No. I have one of these Mr. Coffees, though, and like it better than the same-size Kuerig. It's much easier to use and has a drain/drip pan you can easily take out and clean, so it never overflows or leaks.

I bought my dad this one maybe five years ago for Christmas, and it's still going strong. It's plasticky and cheap, but it has a washable filter and lets you make the cup as strong or weak as you like it. I'm about to get one for my office.
I have the first one. I like it, but I also use a coffee filter to get the extra silt out. It's supposed to filter on its own, but I feel like it still needs coffee filters. Other than that, I love the way the coffee tastes and it brews a cup very quickly (takes less than a minute). For the price, though, I'm not sure it's worth it given that I have to deal with cutting coffee filters to use with it.

I would suggest looking into this one over the first Hamilton Beach one. It's less than half the price and I doubt my coffee maker brews better coffee than this one does.
Not quite. I have the version with the full pot on one side and the single brewer on the other. I think the single-brew side works really well. We use it all the time, and it's nice being able to use regular coffee.
