Mine was just after his first birthday, but he had lost all the hair on the sides of his head as a baby and it was very long on top and looked ridiculous. We cut it to even it out.

Ethan was a little past one. It probably would have been down to his butt if I waited until he was 3. I let him keep it fairly long, and we still trim it every month or so. He is my son fo sho
edit: I kind of hate that this amazing hair is being wasted on a boy. If he was a girl, he would have FABULOUS hair
We cut my sons hair right around 1.5. I was so sad to see the curls go, but it was out of control.
DD is 2.5 now and have not cut it, but she was bald for a really long time. I say just pin it back if it's out of control in her face. I don't want to cut off DD's curls
In my family, no haircuts until three. I have no idea if it's cultural, it's just the way things are done. G has wild hair and everyone tells me I should cut it but I don't wanna! I don't want her to have bangs.
This post has no point.
C has had a trim once and no bangs, well, other than the bit she gave herself. You don't need to do bangs.
She is going to get a few inches off before school.

9 months for DD1. Her hair was always in her face and she would tear out clips. I tried trimming her bangs and effed them up, threw up my hands and said that we're taking her to someone who knows what they're doing.
DD2's hair cowlicked in a way that it stayed mostly out of her face, so we were able to wait a bit longer. We also never did bangs for her. But I found that regular cuts really tamed the baby mullets as their hair grew, and with a favorite book/toy/sitting on my lap my kids were fine during the cuts. So I'm a big fan of early & often for haircuts.
My first daughter, we didn't cut her hair til now that she was 4.5. We donated it and she loves her shorter hair. We would trim her bangs, but that was the extent of her hair cuts until recently.
My second daughter got her first hair cut when she was a year old because she had a little mullet going on lol, so we cut it into a little bob and now her hair is almost to her waist. She'll be 3 in October.
I haven't taken my girls for a haircut. Once, I trimmed a little bit of DD1's hair around her ears when it was growing in uneven (around 18 months). But nothing since.
She doesn't want it cut, but it will be due for a trim soon though, her hair is down to her butt lol. DD2's hair is past her shoulders, but has always grown in even, so no trim for her yet.

Mia got bangs cut at 4 or 5 months. She got a shaping trim at 6 months. Because she had a freaking mullet. She still gets her bangs trimmed every month. Kid grows mad hair. It's almost past her butt at 4 years old and pin straight. Nano is 19 months. She has never had a hair cut of any kind. Curly hair for the win.

This thread makes me feel happy. Our little guy has a full on mullet / Caesar. H kids around about cutting his adorable little party in the back, but I've informed him there will be no haircuts for quite some time.
I think E was around 1 when he had his first hair cut. I like to keep it trimmed so it stays out of his eyes, and off his ears. He's squirmy, though. It's hard to get a decent haircut.
I have a weird block against haircuts before one. I get it in some cases (crazy long hair falling in the eyes), but usually it seems to be parents of boys who want to keep the kid's hair short so he won't be mistaken for a girl. DS has longish hair and I have no plans to cut it anytime soon. I get complimented on my pretty daughter all the time.
I gave my son his first haircut when he was about 10 months old, I think. He was born with a ton of hair, in the middle of the summer, so I felt like it was time. I sometimes regret not letting his hair get a bit longer, but it just looked insane and I didn't want him to burn up in the heat.

Lucy had her hair cut around a year. It seems to grow pretty fast, and she won't let me brush it, so I get it cut on the shorter side. I just really don't understand realllllly long hair, on anyone. Lucy certainly couldn't ever do it, it's too scraggly.

She just turned 4 last week and we still haven't done it yet. I plan to hold off for as long as possible. To me, there are soooo many "firsts" that happen in those first few years. I wanted to keep this one for a little later.
If she'd been a boy, I doubt we'd have cut his hair yet either. I love long hair on boys, and DH would wear his own a heck of a lot longer if he weren't in the military. Both of our families feel completely opposite and if we had a boy with extra long hair, I'm positive we'd never hear the end of it. Even with DD, when my mom heard how much time we spend on her curly mess she couldn't believe we hadn't chopped it all off like she did to my sister when she was a tiny one. Both my nephews had their hair cut before they turned one.

She hasn't had one yet, but I think we are getting close. The shortest parts are now to her shoulders. She has waves at the bottom and I know she'll be stick straight like me once we cut it
He was 16 months. His hair was super curly and almost a rat's nest in the back. I loved the curls but they were a little out of control.
He has only had one other haircut since then. He is due for another one soon but I want to wait until October when his daycare brings in someone from a local salon to cut kids' hair. His hair may be to his knees by then.

Is your family Jewish at all? My orthodox Jewish friends wait until 3 because of religious/cultural reasons.
I have a friend whose husband is Israeli. Her boys got their hair cut around 3-ish; they traveled to Tel Aviv for the occasion. She can't explain the backstory, but goes along.
