Ugh, I totally get this. My brother bragged about using the hotsauce treatment on his SO's son and that they would purposefully drop him off in really bad neighborhoods to "scare" him into behaving. I told him if I ever get wind him doing that shit again I wouldn't hesitate to report him to CPS.

My MIL threatens my DD with ridiculous things like "if you don't give me a kiss, you can't go to Disney World" I want to throat punch the bitch. I realize this has nothing to do with the OP but I'm in a bad mood and it reminded me.
I don't like it when they post pictures of kids with tear-streaked faces after their punishments. Mean.
PEOPLE DO THIS? People you know and are (Facebook) friends with?
Every time we have FB posts, I realize that my friends are mostly boring, and in this case I'm pretty happy about that.
Yeah this is me too. I only have one conservative ranter and he is pretty smart with some good arguments so I let him stay. Lots of posts of babies/kids and moms talking about how much they love them. I barely check FB anymore its so boring and vanilla.
I've never seen this on Facebook, but I used to have a coworker who would brag about disciplining her children (she flat-out called it 'beating the hell out of them'), who were five and fifteen, and I think I always just sat there and looked horrified. Unfortunately she tended to be egged on by two other coworkers. I usually tried not to listen.
Good lord, where? Bc I'm in Texas and don't know anybody who does this.
Lol, I'm guessing it's the stupid people who advertise it. Trust me, it happens more than you think.
Oh, I believe you. I'm always rather surprised at how crunchy most of the people are that i grew up with. Lots of extended BFing, babywearing, cloth diapering, etc. I just didn't expect it from that crowd, kwim?

Yeah, it's crazy. And sad. H got the belt when he was a kid and I know a lot of people who still do it. I see so many of those stupid spanking quotes on Facebook. Sometimes I hate the world.
I don't understand why anyone would want to post something like that? They look like an ass. I would not be so proud as to announce on FB that my son wanted a new family.
Some people should have the ability to make a fb status revoked.

I just saw one of those stupid meme things someone posted on fb basically saying that kids today are bad because you aren't allowed to spank them. I was WTF about it. Also, the thing that is the most confusing to me is I want to project the awesome version of my life on fb. When I have kids I assume it will be the same so lots of cute pictures and maybe a gratuitous twy sentra story here and there. I certainly do not want the fb world to know that my kid is as big of a brat as most kids.

They used to paddle you in the schools. Back in the day they where called getting pops. That shit hurt. This was over 25 years ago and I doubt many schools do it anymore.

Actually, this sort of corporal punishment still happens a lot in the more conservative/rural states.

I'm at a child welfare agency, and if a coworker said this out loud they'd probably get fired real quick.
Yeah, I don't understand taking any joy in punishing your kids. I know it has to be done, but at least for me, I think I'm usually more upset about it than L is.
