My fluid levels were low at my nonstress test on Monday, and my doctor didn't want to risk waiting over the weekend, so tomorrow it is.
I am bummed.
I had prepared myself to go overdue a third time, but I still thought this baby would come on his/her own like Kate did rather than having to be induced like Emily. After having it both ways, I much prefer going into labor naturally and delivering med-free over a medicated induction. I had it in my head that it would be similar to Kate's birth, and now the thought of being stuck in (or only steps away from) a hospital bed knowing how it could be really has me down. I've tried most of the tricks short of castor oil -- heck, yesterday alone I ran three miles on the treadmill, followed it up with 20 minutes on the elliptical, took a 45-minute walk with the girls in the afternoon, and ended the day with an exhausted sex session -- but nothing has helped.
I trust my doctor, so if induction is what's best for the baby, I know that's what matters in the end.
Sorry it isn't happening naturally, but it can still be better than the first time. First time is hardest for everyone. Hoping it goes fast and easy for you!

I'm sorry it isn't what you hoped for. I will say that my 2nd induction was much easier and faster than my first, so hopefully you will have an easier experience this time as well.
I'm so sorry about the induction, though. I'm sure it's disappointing.
Y'know, this could really go very well for you. Generally when there is a true medical reason for induction - especially pre-e or low fluid- your body is signaling that it's ready to be done being pregnant. These inductions generally go much smoother (esp when a mom is over 40 weeks!) because the body is more ready and willing. Sometimes it just needs a little nudge.
If your doctor is open to taking things slowly, ask about your Bishop Score - the higher it is, the more likely it is that your induction will be successful. Sometimes with a high Bishop Score, you can might be able to get away with a little Cervadil overnight and labor might pick up on its own without Pit.
Thanks, all. I am excited to finally get to meet this baby! The girls are so ready too.
julez, my OB said my bishop score was a 7 or 8, so hopefully that bodes well. I will get cervadil tonight and pitocin starting in the morning when my OB arrives; here's hoping that's enough to get things started.
@booby, I am so ready to find out what this baby is! nahoku, I was leaning towards girl in the beginning but then I realized I needed to prepare myself in case it is a boy so now I'm somewhere in the middle. H is sure it's a girl. So is @tambcat. lol.
luvvy, I totally would except eggplant is one of the few veggies I don't like!
cleo29, H was totally tweaking my nipples the other night, and I was like, did you read up on nipple stimulation or something?! Turns out he just wanted to play with my boobs. lol.

ha! lol I did the stimulation myself, about 15 minutes worth and then went to sleep. I was woken up at 3 that morning with contractions. So you never know.
Just to give you hope- I was induced with both kids and it was MUCH easier with DD than with DS. With DS I had a failed induction after 2 days on pit with cervadil in between I was sent home. A week later I had a successful induction.
With DD, I was all prepared for it to take forever but all it took was breaking my water. 43 minutes later I was holding DD in my arms.

Hope you go into labor on your own!
holy shit.
Yep. I'm actually glad I didn't go into labor on my own. I totally wouldn't have made it to the hospital even though I lived 10 minutes away.

This was the plan for my 2nd induction. Turns out the cervadil put me into full on labor and I didn't need pitocin at all. Baby was born 10 hours after I was admitted for induction. Fingers crossed you have a similar experience. So excited for you to meet your new little one! You're going to do great!
I managed a pitocin and epi free induction. It's still possible!!
Tell me more. I know the only way I managed to stay med-free last time was because I was able to labor at home and keep myself busy until literally the last minute. I'm worried I won't be able to manage the pain if I'm stuck in or next to my hospital bed. What helped you?

I had the gel (whatever it's called) inserted and I immediately went into labour. I was lucky because this way I avoided the pitocin. Dr. broke my water 2 hours later and by the time I was begging for the epi, I was already 8 cm and there was no time.
In early labour I walked a lot and had H rub my back and butt (my butt hurt, lol) and what reallllly helped was the yoga ball. I rocked on it inbetween contractions and held onto H, who was seated in front of me, during contractions.
But, basically what helped me was a lightening fast labour. lol. Not helpful, I know. I went from 3 cm to 9 in 60 minutes.
