There was a criminal defense attorney on CNN talking about the Bob Filner scandal in San Diego. He said that some of the allegations probably wouldn't have been a problem if Ryan Gosling did that to these women. He said Filner may have been clumsy and misguided, but he didn't see enough evidence to say he's a serial sexual harrasser.
Luckily the other two people on the show both told him he was an idiot and called him on it, but I was horrified.

There's someone who completely misses the point. The point of sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual anything illegal really, is not that the specific act is wrong, but that you're doing it to someone who does not consent. Maybe it'd be different if it were Ryan Gosling, but you won't think that's hypocrisy unless it has never occurred to you that the woman's perspecitve and agency matter at all, or that women even have perspectives and agency.
I was very glad that the woman and the other man who were part of the discussion both said that the behavior was inappropriate and unwelcome and it wasn't about how they would've reacted to Ryan Gosling. Not in those exact words, but close.
Yeah, if it were Shemar Moore I'd be restraining myself from grabbing his ass, or I'd be strategically positioning myself so he could grab my ass. But that's not the point, the point is that it's NOT OKAY to continually come on to the women around you and to touch them without their consent. Doesn't matter if they'd be okay with another person doing it, what matters is they're not okay with him doing it.
Why do I suspect that lawyer tends to think of women who reject him as frigid bitches.

Because this stance assumes that women's sexual interest is something that men are entitled to, all men, and in equal doses. It's like a USSR bread line, but for vaginas.

We all have our exception.
I was sexually harassed at my old job and I wen to management who decided to write me up for telling him to "shut the fuck up". They decided it was totally OK for me to keep working with him after they had "resolved" the problem and it took me consulting 5 lawyers and threatening a law suit to transfer to another store. (This is a large national chain too. It was ridiculous.)
It is completely unaccaptable the way people treat each other in the workplace and sexual harassment is maddening. It shouldn't be an issue at all. Have respect for others.
