for random things? I have a friend, who I like very much. She makes up silly names for things and calls them that to her kiddo, who is about 20 months. For example:
a fan = b.ig w.ind a cat = meow.mers a plane = "fl.y in the sk.y"
It's just seems very silly to me! But I'm sure some things I do seem silly to others. Do you do this? If so, what weird names for things do you use?

I'm big on nicknames for people (I don't know if I can think of anyone I'm close to that I don't have a ridiculous nickname for), but I don't do nicknames for things. Yeah, that's weird.

We didn't make these up but we adopted them from the girls. H has always called cereal "aya" so we all say it and write it that way on our grocery lists even. D insists that shoes are "bots" so we've been saying it a lot.
I make up bizarre names for things and totally make up words for activities. They seem to center around the word "bee". Like when I use the hand shower to rinse his hair I get him ready by saying " whooooosherBEEE". I have no clue what it is or what it means. I say WhoooooomberBEE" when I swing him up in the air or hoist him into his car seat. I also say " DancerBEE" when he dances and " TalkerBEE" when he talks. His blankie is a " Banken" .I readily admit I am one strange Mom.
-signed the girl who has watched far too much Downton in the last week. For I am speaking my post in the voice of Mary Crawley. I am feeling quite English tonight. Forgive me my Aussie brothers and sisters.

They have to say different words for food in order to get my one nephew to eat. He hates cheese (supposidly) so you have to say regular pizza because if you say cheese pizza he won't eat it. They also do that with the sandwich's. He is 7.
