Just back but I am in MI like sprinkles. I have never really thought about it in terms of the need to get someone's plate. All I know is plates are so damn expensive they better not start charging us for two!

Thats what I thought! Thats why I asked, lol
In Kansas we had one and paid like $60. Here we have two and paid $70. You only actually pay for the plates when you replace them, so maybe every 10 years. All the big fees you pay every year are like property taxes and road fees.

Forgot about this post. I commented while on break at work.
I said dangerous for lack of a better word. I have been I situations since moving here where if a car had had a front plate I could have called the cops and identified the car. But since I never got a good look at the back I had nothing but a basic car description.
I think that is just dumb and it bothers me. Especially since I grew up with front plates.
So you all know how to read front plates in your mirror? To me that seems way more dangerous. Well that and people tailgate if I can't see headlights in my rearview, there's no way to read a plate.

One of the instances I have for example was where I was in a store and noticed something fishy out the window. They drove off but I never got a good look at their rear. But I had a clear shot of the front. Not dangerous to have jotted it down really quick.
Also times where DH was driving and I was the passenger that could have safely read a front plate had it been law to be there.
I really get nostalgic about the old NY plates. I miss them.Â
Matt is so beyond pissed that NJ owns the Statue of Liberty now so they can't have it on the license plate. It's filed under things he'll never get over, lol.
Faevantastic, I lol'd so hard at that. That's classic!
Plates in PA were so much more expensive than here. And now, we're super lucky because with Matt's Purple Heart, we get free plates for life for two of our vehicles. Good job, TN.

Me and Matt would get along quite well. It fills me with such rage!
Just back. I'm curious why lauranicole91 thinks it is dangerous.
Me too.
And seriously, my mind is blown. I never knew other states had it front and back?! WHY?!Â
well, in Kansas they only have back plates and I got a ticket for "pulling through" a spot. You would also get one for backing into it since its the same end results. The cop said that its illegal there since we only had rear plates.

What? I never think Statue of Liberty and NJ together.

Exactly!! Technically, it's in NJ now because NJ is full of assholes. (Sorry, folks!)

Yep, monkeybabe, there was a Supreme Court case that determined based on placement of state lines, the Statue of Liberty actually is a part of NJ. Stupid dispute if you ask me, but of course, revenue based.
But come on, the Statue of Liberty is as New York as the Empire State Building.

My rental car has an Indiana tag on the back only. It seems so weird to not have one on the front because isn't that usually where cameras look at lights and tolls and stuff?
Also, my father pays a lot of extra money to keep his really old and gross looking statue of liberty plate. I think he has to five it up this year though. The new orange ones are so gross and 1970's.

We miss the old plates, too. My H HATES the new yellow ones.
