Awww, poor guy. I'm sure that you did not do this to him with the motrin. Kids throw up all the time. I used to throw up in my sleep as well. Big hugs!
I can imagine how scary that would be - I'd be flipping out too. But chances are... he won't do it again. Sounds like he might just have a little bug or something.... I really dont think it would be the motrin!

I wouldn't think the Motrin would have had anything to do with it. It might just be that he woke up with a sour stomach. How old was the vomit? If it was still wet maybe he was awake for a bit and did it then before he made the noise to alert you he was awake? Or maybe he woke and did it in the middle of the night and fell right back to sleep--if he was feeling crappy enough I'm sure that is possible.

I don't think it was the mortrin. X did this a couple of months ago. He STTN and I didn't hear a thing. In the morning I went to get him out of his crib, I opened the door and his room smelled soooo bad like barf and poop. The poor kid's bed was covered in his dinner from the night before, his hair was all sticky and full of chunks and he had a major diarrhea blow out on top of that. He was otherwise fine and acting like nothing happened. It freaked me out so I know how you feel. For X I think it was just someone he ate at dc didn't agree with his belly because he didn't have a fever or anything. Give the pedi a call just in case. Hugs.

If you were just giving it once a day, the Motrin wouldn't make him throw up. Not giving it may give him a rebound headache, but with just once a day, it shouldn't be bad enough for him to throw up.

I'm sorry. William did that about a month or so ago. It's was all over, covering everything and I never heard him either. It must not have been enough to wake us up either. He just had a small fever and didn't throw up any more that day. Hopefully it is something like that with Layne.

DD did this a while ago too. She puked up her dinner in the middle of the night and fussed a little bit but nothing that was alarming to me. I heard her fussing but assumed she was fine and didnt turn on the monitor to check on her. She went back to sleep within a few minutes and when we woke for the morning, her room smelled of vomit and she was sleeping with her face in her puke. Her poor cheek was all red and irritated and rashy and I felt like the worlds WORST mom.
Macy did this before too, threw up in the middle of the night and just went back to sleep. She doesn't make enough noise for it to wake us up when she throws up.
Both times Audrey has thrown up it has been in her sleep. I was awake one of the times and all I heard was a small cough. He may have just had an upset tummy. I don't think the Motrin had anything to do with it. When did he start the antibiotics?

He started the antibiotics on the 12th and ended on the 22nd. The (completely paranoid) reason I worry it's the Motrin is because of the warnings about hurting the stomach lining if used too much...so like, what if we destroyed his stomach lining from giving it to him every day, and now it's weak? Lol I know it sounds crazy!
I think it would've been the opposite. That you'd see the GI effects when he's on it, not off. Know what I mean?

((( hugs))) that is so scary. I hope he feels better. Don't beat yourself up. The good news is he is ok. I don't think it was the Motrin. I hope he feels better soon .

Ari has toddler reflux. He spits up randomly but never at night. He did spit up at night when he was a newborn. It would really freak me out but his pedi said bit was very common.

Aww, poor Layne! Maybe something just didn't agree with him. V threw up once in her sleep too, for no known reason. I wouldn't freak too much if it was only one time.
I definitely get being scared that he could've choked though. Hopefully it was just a fluke and he won't give you any more scares (for a while)!
Poor baby, and poor mama! That sounds so scary. I'm sure it's just one of those things that happens occasionally, but I'd be freaked out too. Hugs, mama.
I'm also thinking maybe it's reflux? He used to have it as a baby but he hasn't been on meds for it since he was like, 6 months. The reason I think that, is that he's been hiccuping for going on 2-3 days now. Would the reflux make him throw up in his sleep?

Ugh, I am so sorry. This would really upset and freak me out too. I think he very well might have woken up, puked, been totally unphased and gone back to sleep. Colin keeps going while puking and never even seems to care. Yesterday we were playing outside and he all of a sudden puked and never even stopped to get it out. He just kept on with his business. I think it is possible L didn't care all too much and went back to sleep. I am so sorry for the stress and concern.
That's scary. I'm sorry Chels I'm sure it was just a one time thing. He could've just eaten too much at dinner and then with the added pressure of him laying on his belly.
for both my kids the first time they threw up was in their sleep and I did not notice until morning, no crying no nothing. I am sure he has a bug and will be just fine!!
I haven't read the other responses so sorry if this is a repeat - when K was tiny my pedi told me that we really never have to worry about them choking on vomit in their sleep. She said it's VERY uncommon for that to happen to anyone, at any age, unless they're drunk or have mental/physical disabilities that affect swallowing. I hope that puts your mind somewhat at ease! And I really doubt it was the Motrin, though I have no basis for that. I'm sorry he felt bad and that you're stressed!
