I'm ready. I have a personal pledge to never complain about the heat so that I can whine incessantly about the cold in the winter. I'm at work in the ac today. I kept the windows open last night and closed them this morning, so that should keep the house relatively cool until I get home. Tonight we'll probably just run a bunch of fans. We have an air conditioner in the kitchen only and I find that when I run it the rest of the house feels that much hotter in comparison. I cooked some chicken last night so that we can just eat salads with chicken for dinner tonight and tomorrow without having to cook anything.
We played in the shade this morning (DD in her water table, perfect for a day like today). Then we went to a tot time (air conditioned, bonus). Now we're sitting in our air-conditioned house with the overhead fans on. Probably stupid to turn on the oven, but oh well, I'll get yummy pizza out of it.
Since purchasing our home which came with central air, I have no idea how I'll ever go back to life with window ac's. I hate how noisey they are. Even as we speak, all the other ladies in the office have thier window ac's going (no central air in our building) except me. I figure if I just keep my lights off my office will stay pretty cool.
No worries about cooking though, my husband is taking me out to dinner tonight for my birthday.
Thanks! I have no idea where we'll be going tonight. I suppose we'll decide when I get home from work tonight. We haven't been back to Bistro 5 in West Medford in a while or a long time favorite is Red Rock Bistro in Swampscott. I think with the heat I feel like something light and from the ocean would be tasty

Happy birthday elfinia!
Oh the heat! Oh the heat! I knew it was going to be warm today but it was a huge shock to my system anyway after the cool weather we had earlier this week. No ac's in yet. We have 1 for the livinig room and 1 for Lil's room but we haven't had a chance to get them in. We have the house all closed up and the fans running on high. It's not too bad in here. The basement is beautiful so we'll head down there after nap is over. I'd love to head out to the pool but there is NO way I'm getting in that water yet. It is SOOOO cold.

Happy birthday, elfinia! I hope you have a great dinner!
It's always freezing in our classroom, so it's been fine here at work. My husband put the air conditioners in a few weeks ago, so our house should be pretty cool as well.
Man it is hot! I went out briefly to go to lunch and it was like walking into a brick wall! Thank goodness for central AC, my H would die without it.
RNV: my parents used to sleep in our unfinished basement on an air mattress on the hot summer nights. It smelled funny down there, but it was clean and MUCH cooler. We had central AC but my dad would never let us turn it on. I think I inherited some of his cheapness, but it will be running tonight for sure!
So my husband suprised me by having already made dinner reservations at Main St Bistro in Stoneham. It's a small little italian place that we had eaten at before but it had been ages. We got to the restaurant and we had the best table by the window and there was a vase of two dozen roses waiting for me. The food was amazing and thier sangria was delicious! It was a good night
Thank you for the birthday wishes and restaurant suggestions, I'll have to keep them in mind

Sounds great! I love trying local restaurants for my birthday, especially when it falls on a weeknight.
