I had a really big job interview today, and I felt that it went well initially. My interviewer gave me a tour of the facility, and kept talking about the different responsibilities that I would have as if they were very seriously considering me for the position. I also have a very good reference, as he was the former director of said facility.
Then came the shitty part. As the interview was winding down, I asked the interviewer if she had any more questions for me. The second question she asked, I totally had a brain fart mid-sentence and could not get ANY words out. The PA system was loud and kept going off, so I couldn't focus at all. The awkward pause felt like minutes with me just say "uhhhh." I apologized for my lack articulation, but eventually she changed the subject. She said that she would start calling people back for 2nd interviews this Friday.

I sincerely doubt that will make any bit of difference. If the PA system was going off then she probably didn't think anything of it. Was it an important question? I always over analyze the hell out of stuff like that too, but from an outside perspective based on your description I don't think you have anything to worry about.
it's fine. i had to watch videos of myself speaking for this training thing (which was, btw, mortifying). i FELT like i paused for 10,000 years between some words/sentences as i gathered my thoughts. in reality, it was mere seconds. i'm sure you were likewise wrong in your perceptions of time.

I am sure you are making it out to be so much worse in your head than it actually was. Also, I interview people quite a bit in my position. I actually enjoy seeing them show that they are a little nervous for a second. It is always seems to be those people who care about doing a good job as employees.

The question she asked was about my experience working with children that have some history of sexual abuse. I was telling her about a particular client and what we worked on. So when I was talking about what we did together, I blanked out. I eventually answered the question a few minutes later.

I doubt she would dicount you over the one question, when you did well the rest of the time, it is okay!
PS) My last interview I felt like I stumbled around several times, the next call I got was for an offer, I didn't even have to do second rounds (they did call my refrences in the meantime).

Well if you we're interrupted by the PA system and ultimately did answer the question then I'd say you're fine.
Relax. As hard as it is, worrying won't help. I need to learn to take this advice lol I am sure you are fine. Missing one question, shouldn't be a total downfall. Best of luck!!
