So I didn't get the job.
What ticks me off is that I ROCKED that interview, but the job was already someone else's before I even walked in the door. I found out from another friend who was also interviewing that the guy who was in ahead of me did the position there last year. The regulations state that positions have to be re-posted and interviewed every school year, so the interview was basically a pony show because it was obviously going to go to the guy who taught it last year.
The principal called me to tell me I wasn't selected, but said my interview was excellent and that she will be keeping me in mind if anything else comes up. She had no criticism for me and all she could say was that they went with someone else. Blah.
I hate that I got my hopes up for nothing. I have the super sads
I'm sorry. I was thinking of you earlier and hoping it went well. It sounds like it did go well if you think of it in terms of you now being on a list of very amazing prospects when something opens up. I know that doesn't take the disappointment away, but they saw what a shining star you are today!

Oh I am so sorry. I hope something opens up and the school thinks of you. My department head keeps a massive file filled with interviewees that she has liked and has called on them when she needed a teacher.
And fwiw, that process is extremely common here since Union rules state that all positions must be posted externally even if there is a pre-determined candidate.

Thanks, ladies.
I keep feeling like I let H and Jack down. H keeps reminding me that there was nothing I could have done and if I was in the position where I had already been teaching those subjects and they didn't ask me back then I would feel really shitty. He said it all evens out in the end because there will be interviews where I am the intended candidate. I guess he is right, I was just really counting on getting this to make all my money stress go away. Sigh.
I do know that there should be a shorter position coming up at the school I worked at in May and June of this year. The teacher who is going to take time off has a daughter with CP and they are waiting for the children's hospital to schedule her surgery and then she plans to take 4 months (one semester) off to care for her. And I know that in that situation I will be the intended candidate. It just would have been nice to have a guaranteed job for the whole school year.
Sorry! I'm in the exact same position. It sucks. Teachers went back today and I'm still waiting. I applied for one and am waiting on another but I'm getting bummed out!
Their loss! At least you made an amazing impression and maybe during the next interview it 'll be a pony show because the job is already in the bag for you!
