Does anyone have recommendations for carriers for toddlers?
We have the Ergo but I'm wondering if there is something better for bigger kids. I am mostly thinking of our London trip in December but also just for everyday use.

I like our backpack carrier much better for carrying Zoe now. We have the ergo, but Zoe's so short and she can't really see anything with back carry and it makes her mad.
the kinderpack and tula toddler are both recommended for bigger toddlers.
My BFF got the tula and loves it. The ergo was hurting her back too much (her daughter is close to 30lbs). It is similar to the ergo but has more padding.
I'm really liking this because if we have stroller or she wants to walk it can still be a backpack- especially good for London. Do you know the weight limit? I don't see it on amazon
monkeybabe your backpack looks awesome. can you post pics (again- i know you did before) of her in it? I can't figure out how it works.
Also, does it have a metal frame at all? we have a kelty but the frame is annoying to travel with
It does not have a frame and it's basically flat when empty. In the amazon picture, it's fully zipped up, so it doesn't really show how it works.
I got it for $40 on CL, so maybe that's an option. When we travel, we use that as Zoe's bag, so we always have clothes and diapers close at hand and also a handy spot for a water bottle and a sippy cup!

One downside to the backpack: At least with Zoe, she always leans to the same side in it, so if you're wearing it for a long time, it can get a little uncomfortable. I usually reach up under her butt and adjust her, but that only works for so long.
I think Kelty has a backpack like that, too, which Jake really liked. But since we don't often carry the boys (we are usually 1:2) it wasn't worth it for us.

Don't know what happened to my post earlier but do you know the weight limit? Do you think it would work with a 20m old? Z looks pretty big in it and I know she's tiny.

I think the kelty one still has a metal bar running along the bottom, so it doesn't get super compact, and I'm not sure if you can zip up the child seat. That feature of the deuter is really nice for when the baby is no longer in the backpack, because it makes the bag less floppy while wearing it.

35 pounds, I believe.
all the pics i saw online had small toddlers in it. Luke's small but i don't think it'd last very long
DH just got the Onya Baby Outback. It's huge; C can barely see out of it, so I would imagine it will last a long time. It has small storage pockets and is really light and airy. It also converts to a harness for any chair, which is handy when we're out places without high chairs.
I wear him front, side, and back in my woven wraps and mei tai comfortably still. I've walked 3-5 miles each day this week with him inthwn without back pain.

what is it that you don't like about the Ergo? I just wonder because i know my friends with bigger toddlers (95%, etc) say it's uncomfortable (even though it has a high weight limit) but this one doesnt look much better- just convenient for random "I don't want to walk anymore" times

It is a little shorter than some I have seen (like the Onya) so there is a chance she could lean way back and that's a little scary.

yeah luke does that and when he's on my back it scares me! we don't use it as much as i thought we would- he doesnt like to be confined. He'd much rather the stroller.
I'm just going to continue to use my Ergo. My SIL still carries my 3 year old nephew in hers.
I probably will due to money... We don't NEED another carrier. I do like the one monkeybabe has because when she's not being carried I never know what to do with the Ergo. At least that is still a useful backpack

I'm like that too, I'm awkwardly holding the Ergo when it's not in use.

That's why we retired DH's Beco. C's head, shoulders, and arms were all out, and he started arching backwards.

Wraps, people! I can drape it around like a scarf or use it as a blanket.
