I'm also into the Hunger Games trilogy, thanks to PiLife and the Kindle-loan thing! I'm trying to hurry through it before the 2-week loan is up so I don't have to get her to do it again.
Do you want to see the movie after?
I really didn't care about the movie at first but now after getting into the book, I think I will definitely rent it.
What do you think of the books so far? I had heard it would be a page-turner but it really is better than I was expecting. I think I may have vocally poo-poohed about this series several months back but I have changed my mind now. Good stuff!
I just finished the first book because I finished the book I was reading at my parents' house this weekend and it was something to read. (I had said before that I wouldn't read it, so you're not the only one.)
I liked it, but I didn't take the other two books with me when I left, and I feel no regret. lol I don't know if I'll read them. I will probably watch the movie at some point, but I don't feel like I need to see it now that I read book 1. I will probably read a summary of the other two books and then decide whether or not I want to actually read them.
I ordered two books from Amazon that should be here today, so I'll read those before I go back to the Hunger Games series anyway.
Actually DH and I went to see the movie this past Saturday and I loved it! I am hooked! I thought Elizabeth Banks did an awesome job as Effie and Woody Harrelson is a perfect Haymitch. I also must mention how FUCKING HOT Lenny Kravitz is as Cinna! YUM-YUM-YUMMY!! I thought the costumes and make-up were amazing.
I was on the edge of my seat most of the movie and even ended up bawling my eyes out like a baby! I thought I was going to have to excuse myself from the theater but didn't want to miss a.single.minute of it so I managed to pull myself together.
On the way home I made DH stop at Meijer so I could buy the books. I haven't been able to put #1 down yet. It's so much better than I thought it was going to be. I will probably be finished with it tonight and can't wait to get started on #2.
I was talking with my mom and brother on Sunday and they both said books #2 and #3 are really good as well. My mom said her favorite is #3.
I can't wait for movie #2 just so I can see what they do with the costumes and make-up.

MN, I'm sure the others will be there the next time you visit your parents if you decide to finish up the series.
I can't remember the last time I got into a multi-book series, but I know for sure this is the quickest I have tried to get through a set. Good thing about "Young Adult" novels is that I rarely have to look up a word or re-read a passage to understand it better.
I freakin' loved that series. I was surprised...it'd been on my "to read" list for over a year but I never even looked into what it was about. I convinced M to read the first book and then we went to see the movie weekend before last. I liked the movie, but of course, it wasn't as good as the book!
I absolutely loved the books, my fave was the first, but they're all good. I saw the movie and was a little disappointed, but it was still pretty good. I'll definitely see the other movies when they come out.
::butts in:: I loved the books; the movie wasn't bad. I won't pay to see the next two in the theater, but I'll probably buy the trilogy on DVD.. but not when it first comes out.. months after when it goes on sale.

Oh, maybe it came that way originally. Every now and then there are lines underlined, which I thought you highlighted for some reason. I was wondering that if I highlighted some stuff if you would see it next time you read it, teehee.
I just finished the 2nd book last night. I liked it as much as the first, maybe even a little more. I finished the first book a few days before the movie came out. I need to see the movie again because I may have been a little drunk the first time.
I loved Lenny Kravitz as Cinna! When I read the book I pictured him to be more like the stylist from Pricess Diaries (I have no idea why), but Lenny is a much better alternative. President Snow is played by Donald Sutherland, which is perfect.
