also this cartoon would be something that my stepdad would actually take seriously and uses in a lecture to us about why organic is "bullshit" (his words.). i just thought it was fun/silly
Not really though. They are saying "cavemen could have lived much longer IF they had modern medicine" like antibiotics and vaccines and such
Basically they are saying that just because the cavemen had a short lifespan, that doesn't mean the caveman diet is without merit. I mean I do agree. I feel that in general if we could all eat only free range, organic, local we would be better off. But it's also not feasible for the most part, for most people. Sadly these days eating like that can be ludicrously expensive.
also the thing I hate the most about paleo peeps is their disdain for carbohydrate food. While I think the argument that we didnt have twinkies and fried mars bar back then served in our favor and should be replicated today for health, I just can't buy the same argument for beans, whole grains and potatoes.

I had a guy from church corner me and start telling me about how important it is to eat all organic, free-range, etc. He seemed baffled when I commented that eating that way is a rich man's luxury. It had seriously never occurred to him that some people might not actually be able to afford that kind of food.

It wasn't really aggressive so much as he engaged me in conversation and then let the conversation that way when I wasn't able to really disengage.
