It won't pass the House, well I doubt it will pass. What a cluster.
I agree. I definitely understand a call for a vote, but I don't know how quick congress will be to approve military action. This is going to be interesting.

It will be interesting and I bet 90% of the people who voted yes for Iraq will vote no this time.

I wonder if he thinks he will get approval. I feel like there is too much opposition to this. There.must be some behind the scenes dealing going on that we don't know about.
But then again, I don't think Congress needs to approve this. We are not declaring war. He is the Commander and Chief and this is a part of his job.
I wouldn't be surprised if he and his staff are counting on it getting shot down in congress. Not because I am (or think he is) an asshole...but because it lets America look like they are getting involved and make tactical movements behind the scenes but then not have to actually put American lives in a political quagmire.
Plus, it provides further proof of the disfunction of Congress. And some interesting talking points next election season.

I think the only reason the president is asking for congressional approval is because in his campaign he said he didn't think the president should make these decisions without congress.

I get why he is seeking approval. I just don't think he's right in asking. Congress is a joke and is way too partisan to decide an issue such as this.
Do you think it wont pass due to the lack of bipartisanship or something else?
I think people will vote no for at least one of the following reasons: 1. It will cost too much, so the fiscal conservatives won't like it 2. There's a strong non-interventionist sentiment that borders on isolationism among some 3. There's no telling how this will end, and it won't be good in the meantime 4. Some people just dislike everything the president stands for, so they will take the alternate stance.
