So, I'm nannying for a few families. Two of them I bring to school, one I bring home from school, one I wake up in the morning to get ready for school, another I walk home from school and then watch him and his 8 month old sister for 2 hours.
This stuff is exhausting! I'm up early, learning how to entertain kids while driving...yikes. Plus, I'm constantly going! It's hard to actually sit and eat a real meal, too...I didn't eat a real meal the entire day yesterday.
I'm still working out the kinks, so this will get easier. It's fun, but man...kids are a TON of work. Hats off to you, Ala. How in the hell do you do it all day every day?!??!
Haha, I wonder sometimes. It is really fun, but super tiring...I'm becoming more and more convinced that while I love being around kids, I'm not sure they're for me, you know?
LOL! No offense...yesterday when I was driving home in rush hour traffic, I was thinking about all the stuff I had to do at home...then I truly understood that "it's fuck this shit o'clock" picture...so I went swimming instead of doing the laundry

Aaaaand you just explained how my H feels. He loves his job, even though it involves corralling HS kids all the time, but the more years he works with teenagers the less he wants one of his own. (of course teens are a bad age group to determine this thought, I feel!)

Nannying makes you exhausted. I did it for 2 years - every other weekend for basically 24 hours between Sat morning and Sunday night. Ugh. It took a toll on me. Best birth control out there.
I have one in the house for only half of the time, and that's exhausting, and she's old enough to basically take care of herself. I can't imagine multiple little ones.
Oh, and I think it's great that you're doing this. I wish more people would do something like this before having kids. There may be a lot less unwanted children in the world if people actually realized what it's like day in and day out to take care of them.
