We tried it out with our free 30 day Prime but the picture was always going in and out. It would be clear and then go fuzzy for awhile. I ended up watching Netflix everyday instead.
Roku is a streaming device. We stream netflix and amazon prime to our tv through it. It also has pandora and other music apps. And a disney app, etc. I love it and if it wasn't for damn sports we would have no real TV.
We have a Sony Blue-Ray player (that connects wirelessly to the apps) that we use for Amazon and Netflix streaming and Amazon works better than Netflix on it, oddly enough. We had an issue w/ Netflix last night and had to watch something on amazon instead.
We have Prime with a fab picture, but we have a smartTV that uses the app. The TV can connect wirelessly, but we get a faster download speed with a wired connection (about 25-30 mbps vs about 3-5 mbps wireless), so we just put our router behind the TV and we NEVER have buffering.
We have a smart tv! I don't understand the rest of what you said mscatra. So you have a device that pics up Prime for you and that device is connected to the tv? Like cat19 does with the xbox?
Sorry, was away from my computer!
What kind of smart tv do you have? Ours is a Samsung and it has a function called Smart Hub where you can download Samsung specific apps, plus it came preloaded with the Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, Pandora, and YouTube apps. So, we hit the Smart Hub button on our remote, arrow over to the app we want, press enter, and it opens up and logs into the account I sync'd up with the TV. Mine has different apps on it, but it looks like this:
It would be purrrrrfect if it had a keyboard remote. Older tv's had a fancy keyboard remote, newer ones have "grab" technology, and our's is the oddball year that has neither, just a remote with arrow and enter buttons. Bummer.
Yeah, my router has both wired and wireless, so I'm lucky on that one. I think the Roku (like @thadsrad mentioned) is a pretty cheap option if you don't need a new blu-ray player.
