There's a lake that's 2.25 miles across close to DH's parents. Nothing motorized is allowed on it so the biggest boat we'd run into is a row boat. We've wanted to swim across it for years. We feel like we've gotten to the point where we're strong enough swimmers to do it when we go up there in a few weeks.
DH is pretty sure he can get one or both of is parents to kayak with us. He thinks we each need a kayaker in the water and I think we'd be fine with just one. He'll be a little ahead of me but not much (Normally he's ~1 minute faster than me when we race 1/2 mile). We'll also be wearing wet suits so it'll be easy to take a float break if we need. So do you think we need 2 kayaks or is one enough?
One should be fine. My dad and I swam across our lake last summer with my DH beside us in a rowboat...turns out we didn't need him, but it was reassuring to have him there just in case.
