What part of age 3 do they become jerks? Kalvin is 3.5 today and oh my goodness is he testing everything this weekend. I have threatened that he will go to the kennel tomorrow and Joey will go to the beach. He flat out refuses to eat his food but will eat Katelyn's crumbs. I even ask him what he wants to eat but as soon as it is in front of him he says he's done and puts his plate in the kitchen.
I really hope its a phase and not shit he picked up at daycare since his preschool room is 3-5s.
Update: He finally took a nap after much fighting and telling him he wasn't getting cake. Well Katelyn woke up about a 1/2 hour after he fell asleep. She just woke him up and the first thing he did was come up to me and go "Happy Birthday Mommy, birthday cake? Mommy needs birthday presents." He's currently running around saying Happy Birthday Mommy. He is not the same child that fell asleep before nap. This was the first time he said Happy Birthday to either DH or I.

The week she turned 3 the sass elevated but holy shit 3.5 was rough. 4.5 seems hard too but there were some lulls, very very short lulls. Hold on to your hat! :-)
In my opinion the odd years are the worst (1 and 3 were torture) and my kids always seem the worst at the halfway point of the year. 3 was a nightmare, but 4 was the BEST! Hang in there
That age sounds about right. Abby is still good at pushing buttons, but, like Dahli said, there are lulls. Might be able to type more later. I'm big on trying to figure out the reason (sometimes the reason is "just because I can"), and give her a chance to correct her behavior. We always gave her plenty of warning, but in the end, consistency helps a lot.
Three was hellish. That was when Linz walked up to me and stated "You know mom, I can change my mind whenever I want. It's a woman's prerogative." I knew I was pretty much screwed then. It got better somewhere between 4 and 4.5 for her.
Thank you ladies. I thought it was 3.5 was hellish. I know he hit terrible twos like a brick wall two days after his birthday. I'm currently bartering with him that if he takes a nap he can have a piece of my birthday cake. No nap, no cake. I'm sure there will be tears, whose tears, undecided yet.

Cae will be 4 in Oct and he seems to have calmed down, but 3-3.5 was pretty yuck. We do a lot of fight over nap time, however I hate evenings if he doesn't get at least 45 mins of down time!

My nephew was such a brat at 3. I remember being pregnant and watching him overnight while my sister was in the hospital after having my niece and he was so mean. He didn't want to nap and kept trying to hit me.
