I had a coworker with a vitamin D deficiency that didn't like taking pills, as she swore by fish (salmon, tuna & swordfish) and vitamin D orange juice.
I evidently do, and research said its because of my strict vegetarian diet. My RE actually prescribed Vitamin D for me, but I found a place online that gives different sources of Vitamin D.
Did your doctor make a suggestion as to what you should do?
I take a vegan multi that has D & B12 in it, but I also drink soy milk fortified with both vitamins.
Get outside and get some sun. Also, eat mushrooms.
He just called when he got my results, I haven't "seen" him since but my followup is this coming Monday. This was literally a new thing for me and the pill was only once a week for 3 weeks.
LUV mushrooms, so I'll definitely add that in. And I have soy milk in my smoothie daily. I'm currently taking prenatals as well, but it sounds like it must have been really low. I've only been a vegetarian 4 1/2 months now. What type of soy milk do you drink? DH just buys whatever is organic.
ETA: Now that the weather is warmer, I'll definitely be outside more as well

This. It really depends on how low you are, but your doc should've given you some ideas.
Last year mine was on the high end of low. My doc said it wasn't worth it for me to take the pills since I was only slightly deficient. Instead, she suggested sunlight and consuming more foods with vitamin D.

I should probably get tested again since I was slightly low last year and because I'm pretty much vegetarian at this point. Although I eat a very balanced diet, I'm tired all the time (in fact, I just woke up from a nap, LOL). I'm also limited on some sources because of my food allergies.
