I didn't feel like I was going to die at any point and it wasn't insanely slow considering the amount (not that much) of effort that I put forth. I ran at sunrise, so I wasn't dealing with blazing sun. I'm not sure if the lack of sun or the lack of humidity helped me more, but it wasn't bad at all. Like I will probably do it again tomorrow and not even complain.
6.33 miles/1:00:00 @ 91* and 49% humidity
Also, I got to see my fancy new office for the first time yesterday. It is pretty swank. I've always just had an ancient cubicle, so it is pretty wild to me that I have a giant office now. I think it might be bigger than my bedroom at home. Weird. To make this part of my blabber H&F related: My office has this air freshener thing mounted to the wall to spray air freshener at me every 15 minutes. I'm freaked out that it is unhealthy to breathe that crap 24/7. I asked to have it removed yesterday, but everyone was all: "Why would you think it is bad to breathe? It is to make the air fresh!" That might be an uphill battle, but I'm seriously going to pursue it. Gross.
I firmly believe that humidity, or lack there of, makes all of the difference in the world. Your sweat can't do it's job. So glad you had a great run!! The air fresher would annoy me too.

Wait, are you moving there now?
Glad your run was successful.. I need to get off my ass & at least go for a walk.
Also, can you take the can of spray out of the air-freshner? Weird that they would have it in such a tiny place; I've seen them in large spaces..like restaurants, but not a small office.
Stingyshark and @kjewell - Yes. Now we're moving again. We found out about 10 days ago, put our house on the market 6 days ago, and I arrived in Dubai 3 days ago. So it has been kind of crazy. Not bad crazy, but still crazy.
YAY! That's exciting! When do your DD & H come over?
I'm here for some meetings and to find us a house. Then I'll go back to the US for a few weeks, then we'll all come back here together sometime in the first half of October.
Congrats on your big, beautiful office! I would be bothered by the air freshener, too.
Yeah we have one of those in our bathroom at work (6 stalls, so not tiny) and I try and hold my breath when it sprays and I'm standing right near it. There is no way I would want one in my office. Even if it's fine to breathe that stuff in, the sound it makes would drive me insane.
That is a great run; nice work!! I'm so excited for you that the move worked out. I hope things go smoothly & you can find a good place to live. Will you be able to do your work in English, or will you also be doing some language learning (Arabic or something else)?
P.S. I think you mentioned that you've already found a new home for Duke. But what about those ducks?
thom - We are planning to offer the ducks to the local 4H kids. Do you think they'll take them? We don't really have a plan B.
ETA: I will work in English. Almost nobody in UAE is actually a local (about 90% expats) so I think we kind of have to default to English so that we can all communicate.
taratru - I feel pretty lucky that I have happened into some pretty unique experiences. I feel even more lucky that H comes up with some of them/is willing to go along with them.

Oh my gosh Brit that's fantastic!!! I hope you have a great time!!!! Congrats
I hope it works out with the 4-H kids. I'm sure someone will take them, particularly if they already have ducks & can just add them to the mix.
I knew Dubai was a fairly international city, but 90% expats I would not have guessed. The English factor is nice though. It should be a neat place to meet people from all over & also expose your DD to lots of different people & cultures. SO cool!

Congrats on the run, good luck with your adventures!
For the air freshener, we have them in our apartment hallway - I hate the chemicals being sprayed at me. I remove the batteries from the one outside my door, they only come check them once every few months, so it stays off for a while.
