It was pretty quick and easy for me. I used painter's tape to hold the piece in place. I had a drill and a screw gun, so that was nice. I didn't have to keep switching out bits. I did our whole kitchen in under 10 minutes. BUT, I'm handy and have lots of tools, so take that for what it's worth.
These are what we want to use, but aren't they stupid expensive?
Define expensive? Not being a jerk, I just don't know what to compare the price to? Our pedi's office uses them and I thought they were great, so I asked what kind they were and bought them. There may be a cheaper brand? I think they were $22 a piece?
I'm so jealous of all of you who have not childproofed. I gave up on a lot. The drawers in our kitchen (we have a drawers instead of cabinets in one section) are a free for all for the boys. The bottom two are full of tupperware and their plates and bowls. They take them out and put them back about 400 times a day.
The boys now can climb up onto the kitchen chairs and onto the dining room table. I have no idea how to stop that.
We have moved so much stuff into the bathrooms because they are basically our only rooms with doors that close
What a pain. Maybe I will just get the ones that go over the cabinet knobs and only use them where we keep cleaning supplies.
We started with the ones that went over the knobs. Lilly was 10 months when she figured out how to get them off no matter how tight we got them. So then we upgraded but I had to use a drill...sorry.

I guess compared to other methods of childproofing. I did find those same ones for $15 a pair. I just think of all the cabinets that we have to take care of and it's a hefty price tag...at least for us. We've opted to do those, but in stages. Cabinets of death first...then others. They are totally awesome. They have magnetic ones of the same brand that are a lot cheaper, but you have to drill. I don't want to drill. Plus, we have some nice furniture that has drawers she needs to stay out of. NOT drilling my Crate and Barrel coffee table!!
I resisted the childproofing of the kitchen for so long.
I finally broke down and did it and had to drill. Our cabinets aren't anything special, so I didn't feel bad about it. It was just time consuming and annoying.
Ironically, they don't even try to get into the cabinets anymore. Part of me wonders if it was a phase, and then they just stopped, or they stopped because they know they can't get in.
The nice thing is though, that they can be in the kitchen with us and playing and we don't have to be hovering over them at every move.

We child proofed early on since DS crawled and cruised relatively young. Now he doesn't realize other people's cabinets open, lol. He doesn't even try!

We are the laziest ever for child proofing. I bought a gate that goes all the way across and blocks off my kitchen entirely, so I didn't have to do cabinet and drawer locks. It also keeps the dog food out of reach too.
I also just took my coffee table out of my living room entirely and everything off my entertainment center shelves, lol. So lazy.
