When is your marathon? 10/27/13 - Marine Corps Marathon!
Who remembered their homework assignment? Post pictures from your run! Attachment DeletedMine is my avatar - but here it is again. My long runs follow a lake & i'm lucky enough to be able to jump in after i finish!
Where does your mind take you on your runs these days? We're posting some pretty high mileage so that gives us a lot of quality time in our own brains. I mainly do a lot of math (which i'm horrible at) - breaking down mileage, timeframes, etc. I've tried to NOT look at my garmin during the long runs this training cycle and it has been so freeing! So, mainly i'm breaking down mileage. Or thinking/fretting about our home renovation
How are you doing with balancing everything these days? I'm not! Working two jobs, maintaining our rental house and our house-house while it is being renovated, plus i'm a board member on a rescue, - AND training. I've become quite the ill-pill to be around
Why is traveling so hectic? There arent enough hours to do it all! Tell us about the most interesting place you've ever run. Mt. Desert Island, Maine. Most of the island is in Acadia National Forest and it.is.beautiful. Words can't describe it.

Where does your mind take you on your runs these days? We're posting some pretty high mileage so that gives us a lot of quality time in our own brains. "i'm hot. i'm tired. i wonder how many miles she's running? there's no way i'm BQing. i need to watch spirit of the marathon again for a confidence boost. im so disappointed in this training season. fuck this, i'm going to walk a minute. is a car coming out of this alley? what about this one? is that german shepard who is always being walked without a leash by that guy with the ponytail going to attack me today? how will i yell at the owner if he does? why are they putting all these stupid little traffic circles in everywhere? ugh, god damn construction workers...pigs, youre all pigs. find something else to look at."
What are you wearing for your next race? Bonus points for pictures or links. not sure yet. not racing until the marathon. the Chicago Half is this Sunday, but I am running 20 instead because I have a baby shower at 11am and wont make it if i race the half.
How are you doing with balancing everything these days? not well. try working an exhausting 12hr night shift on your feet with a hurt back and knee and then run in the heat the next morning... i was so tired my contacts were blurry and i didnt get out there until 9am so it was corwded and hot. this has been the worst season for me.
Why is traveling so hectic? There arent enough hours to do it all! Tell us about the most interesting place you've ever run. Fun...hrm, most interesting? Running through San Fran and across the GG bridge was pretty fun. 18mi through Munich and the English Garden last summer was great, with DH pedaling by my side. That was an excellent training season and my best marathon, can i go back to last year? ;-)
Happy Labor Day! I survived the baby shower this weekend
When is your marathon? 3 weeks!!
Who remembered their homework assignment? Post pictures from your run! My long runs take me along the river View Attachment Where does your mind take you on your runs these days? We're posting some pretty high mileage so that gives us a lot of quality time in our own brains. Everywhere. I think about anything and everything on my long runs.
What are you wearing for your next race? Bonus points for pictures or links. I'm still deciding but probably a Northface tanktop, black short and pink compression socks.
How are you doing with balancing everything these days? Pretty well.
Why is traveling so hectic? There arent enough hours to do it all! Tell us about the most interesting place you've ever run. A 10-miler throught the moutains I guess. I thinking my marathon will be the coolest once I finish it.
When is your marathon? Freedom's Run 10/12, MCM 10/27
Who remembered their homework assignment? Post pictures from your run!
Where does your mind take you on your runs these days? I'm usually planning my schedule, and thinking about upcoming races
What are you wearing for your next race? Bonus points for pictures or links. CWX tights, Under Armour racer back tank, hot pink Mizunos
How are you doing with balancing everything these days? DH and I need to sit down and plan the next couple weeks out. He is working w/e now, and b/w court and part time works every day. I don't think we'll be training at the same time again. It's hard!
Why is traveling so hectic? There arent enough hours to do it all! Tell us about the most interesting place you've ever run. Scenery wise, Ecuador and Alaska, but nothing tops Boston on marathon day. I also ran in Central Park on the day when the 2012 marathon was supposed to take place. It was amazing to see so many runners from all over the world.
lb2006 I am so jealous you have done the Mt Desert Island race! If I survive my first marathon, I want to do that one some day! I love that area!
It was amazing. We love Mt. Desert Island and to see so much of it by foot was wonderful. Somes Sound was especially beautiful. For a teaser video (my H & I are in a short clip of this, as we were running near the girl they were filming) - check it out. MDI is GORGEOUS!
Happy Labor Day! I survived the baby shower this weekend
When is your marathon? Chicago 10/13 and Houston 1/19
Where does your mind take you on your runs these days? All over the place. And sometimes nowhere at all, those runs are the best. Right now lots of trying not to panic over the whole getting into residency thing - I feel like I am constantly on the verge of a panic attack.
What are you wearing for your next race? Bonus points for pictures or links. Good question. Depends on the weather in Chicago! Probably some combination of underarmour tank, underarmour tights, lululemon long sleeve, and/or lululemon speed shorts.
How are you doing with balancing everything these days? Lol balance. See the above. I'm coping, sort of, I think. In 2 weeks most of it will be over/out of my hands for a while, and a week after that I start my taper, so I'm just kind of trying to survive til then.
Why is traveling so hectic? There arent enough hours to do it all! Tell us about the most interesting place you've ever run. Hmm. I haven't traveled much since I started running. I put in a lot of miles on the seawall in Biloxi, MS while H was living there.

When is your marathon? MCM 10/27
Who remembered their homework assignment? Post pictures from your run! Sorry, no photos today!
Where does your mind take you on your runs these days? We're posting some pretty high mileage so that gives us a lot of quality time in our own brains. A lot of times I think about work, my to-do list, my weekend plans, and what I'm going to eat when I finish running. But sometimes my thoughts are more like this: How much farther do I have left to go? Oh Lord, that much longer? Why am I so tired? How am I supposed to run 26.2 miles at this pace/a faster pace than this? I'm so thirsty. I would pay $50 for some cold Gatorade right now. Is this uphill? It feels uphill. Ok, how much farther do I have to go now? I've only run 0.3 miles?? Fuck.
What are you wearing for your next race? Bonus points for pictures or links. My next race is a half marathon. I'll probably wear some sort of running tank, maybe the one I have from Athleta; Oiselle Roga shorts; a pink hat; Wright socks; and Brooks Adrenaline shoes. And probably a SPI belt to hold my gels.
How are you doing with balancing everything these days? Not well. It's hard to fit in longer weekday runs before work. I bought a head lamp last week, so I can run in the dark. I'm constantly tired, and I think I need more sleep to balance out the higher mileage. I have a work conference coming up in a couple of weeks, and I have to be there during specific hours, unlike my normally more flexible schedule, so I'm already stressing about that.
Why is traveling so hectic? There arent enough hours to do it all! Tell us about the most interesting place you've ever run. I really enjoyed running along the SF bay and over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. I also love some of my local DC runs - along the National Mall, the Tidal Basin, through Rock Creek Park and the National Zoo. I feel lucky to live where I do and get to run in some great places.
Where does your mind take you on your runs these days? We're posting some pretty high mileage so that gives us a lot of quality time in our own brains. This week: holy balls it's hot.
What are you wearing for your next race? Bonus points for pictures or links. My next race will be the marathon, so it will depend on how cool it gets here
How are you doing with balancing everything these days? eh, so so. Last week was rough, I was out of town for meetings that did not really allow time for the runs that I needed to do, so I ended up squishing everything at the end of the week
Why is traveling so hectic? There aren't enough hours to do it all! Tell us about the most interesting place you've ever run. I've run along the beaches in Maui, that was pretty cool

Yes it is beautiful! My family has a summer house on Somes Sounds. I haven't been up in about 3 years but H and I are trying to swing a trip up next year sometime! I've looked up the course and it goes right past our house there. lol

When is your marathon? Savannah, 11/9
Who remembered their homework assignment? Post pictures from your run! No pics.
Where does your mind take you on your runs these days? It changes. Sometimes I think about what I'm going to cook for dinner, what errands I have to run, etc. Other times I think about work and how I can help my therapy clients. Other times I'm obsessed with the run, when I'm going to get my water, snack, etc. Other times it's thoughts about life in general and I get philosophical. The best is when my mind just blisses out and I'm not thinking of anything.
What are you wearing for your next race? Bonus points for pictures or links. No idea, but I know it will be luluemon capris and I need new running shoes. Probably with an insert.
How are you doing with balancing everything these days? Not well. I was not prepared with how different marathon training is from half marathon training. I found (obviously) it was much easier to fit in half training with my work, kids, DH and pets. I hope I can get there.
Why is traveling so hectic? There arent enough hours to do it all! Tell us about the most interesting place you've ever run. I do my long runs on big trail in Atlanta on the Chattahoochie River. It's quiet and beautiful but always people there so I feel safe. I ran in Ecuador this summer in the Andes and the jungle, so pretty. Also enjoyed my runs in Tuscany, San Francisco, Central Park and Peru.
When is your marathon? Chicago 10/13/13 & RnR Savannah 11/9/13
Who remembered their homework assignment? Post pictures from your run! No pics. I never run with my phone.
Where does your mind take you on your runs these days? We're posting some pretty high mileage so that gives us a lot of quality time in our own brains. It usually wanders over a variety of things. My upcoming race, what I'm eating when I'm done with my run, what I have planned for the rest of the day, how I'm feeling, work, etc. The best is when I completely zone out.
This Sunday's run w/DH went like this, "My god it's humid. Take it easy. Be gentle with your calf. You've got nothing to prove. Just get the miles in. See how far you can go. Where's DH? How's he feeling? I feel pretty good. I think I can keep going. Shade! Glorious shade & water! I'm still feeling strong. Keep plugging along. Do I feel pain? Is something tight? Is that normal? You're towards the end of an 18 mile run, this is normal long run tighness. Huh...this probably isn't what the Dr had in mind when he said "go run 4 easy miles". Oooh, A BUNNY! God, that sun is hot. Kill me now. Kill me right fucking now. (8:45 mile) Shade!!! Wonderful shade! (8:09 mile). Hot again. Gel burp. Hang in there stomach. Why is that man in long sleeves and black running tights? It's too hot for clothes! (rips off tank top) Yes, hello college boys. I know I'm running through the University, but you were probably 5 when I was a college freshman. You're sweet though. God I feel old. You're 2.5 miles out from the house which means you're at mile 16.5....(looks at garmin) wait a minute....you're at 17.5?! This is why you shouldn't do math when you're running! Oh well, etxra 1/2 mile & built in cool down."
What are you wearing for your next race? Bonus points for pictures or links. My next race is a 5k two weeks before Chicago. I'll probably wear running shorts and a red shirt if I can find one. I's the race for Fetal Hope and I'm joining a team that does it every year. They're team color is red.
How are you doing with balancing everything these days? Pretty well, but I've had 3 weeks of very low mileage, so that might have something to do with it. Really though, the big difference this time around is that DH is doing it with me.
Why is traveling so hectic? There arent enough hours to do it all! Tell us about the most interesting place you've ever run. I had a couple fun runs in Puerto Rico. I'm bummed I was having knee issues when we were in Europe in May. I really wanted to run along the Thames and the Seine.
