Here are some examples of powdered food coloring usage the leaves before:
The leaves after:
I was able to make the leaves gradually change color, as opposed to a harsh line
Then, with the cupped leaf, I used color moistened with vodka, to paint over the green inside and once that had fully dried, layered it with powdered color to give it more depth of color. Then again, with vodka, painted the lines

And the coral, which I'm not super happy with, but it's not bad enough that I'm going to remake it.

Oh, and if you look closely enough at the before picture, you can see one of the moth wings and then in the pic of all the leaves, you can see how I softened the color changes with powdered color. Not the easiest to see, though.
Excuse me while I pick myself up from the floor in amazement! Those are gorgeous. The leaves look so real! They look just like the leaves on my orchids.

Thanks everyone! I hope to finish it in the next couple/few days. I'm mostly just letting everything dry properly. The competition has officially opened now, so I'm excited! I don't have any illusions about winning, but it's fun!
