I read somewhere (I was very bored, obviously) that Nicole Kidman said that since she is a natural ginger and so are her kids, she is so thankful that her kids love hats! Well, Max hates hats, and always has. He has a huge head and we've always had to size way up for hats for him but he wouldn't let me put them on him for at least a year now. Sigh... will he ever like them? It would make my life so much easier. I feel like he will burn someday since he is a ginger, and it scares me. Is there a way to make him like them?
DS didn't like hats until they were funny looking hats, like the winter ones with the animals. Now he has a questionably strong affinity for all hats in all shapes and sizes lol. There's still hope!

I think it was around two. My mom gave him a hat that he just had to wear everywhere, and he has loved them since then. I'm pretty sure it was his Elmo hat (adjustable baseball hat), and he still wears it, as you can see in this pic from today.
Butterbaby hates them, too, and has a HUGE head. We have a sunhat that ties on under his chin that he can't take off. Mwahahahahahaha!
C tore a strap off one of his tie-on hats when he was struggling to get it off :/
I'm glad to know there's still hope for the future. I'm nervous about the cold weather coming because he battled me on hats every day last year, and he's a lot more headstrong (bad pun?) now.
Just keep trying!! DS1 also hated hats when he was little. We just kept at it. Mine aren't gingers but we have very strong UV index here most of the year so in summer they definitely wear hats. Even if I plaster them in suncreen the tops of their heads will burn - so hats are required wearing in our part of the world.

As babies neither boy wore hats willingly, however when DS1 got old enough to copy DH he started wearing baseball hats which opened up to other hats. Hope that DS2 follows suit.
Owen got a baseball cap for his birthday, and that's his at-home hat. He doesn't hate it. I try to enforce the "no being outside unless you have a hat" because, y'know, ginger.
