DH and I are looking to get some lightly used patio furniture on CL. I really like this wooden furniture but DH is concerned with the wood wearing down quicker than metal. He would rather get a metal patio set.
I have only had metal but really like how this wooden one looks.
What is your opinion- wood vs metal? The metal one doesn't come with Patio umbrella but we can always pick it up. We have negotiated on price so no need to factor it in.
I like the look of the wood one better. The metal one sounds high quality and will probably hold up, but you can probably treat the wood annually to keep it in good condition.
In general I like metal sets better and think they will last longer than the wood sets. I also know that when we were deciding a few years back, the wood just had so much upkeep. We already have a fence and swing set that needs stained every other year and dh said that was enough!
I would actually recommend our patio set. It's a little more expensive, around $700, but it's three years old and still looks brand new. We had bought several sets in the $300-$500 range before it and they lasted a year, maybe two, a d started rusting so bad we had to throw it away.
This is basically the set we have but newer. We actually have a 10th umbrella that comes over it from the side that we are getting ready to list on Cincinnati craigslist too if you're interested. we just need something a tad bigger...
