And this is why Ari isn't starting until 3.5. He will just stay in daycare until then. After I freaked out the other day from the 20k extended day total I decided to wait on this a bit. It's so stressful!
I need to get my butt in gear and start on this. here preschool doesn't accept kids til 2.7 yrs old but mostly 2.9 yrs old. The day cares are more like a pre school. There is a Montessori I want them to go to but the entire school only has 40 spots but it will be cheaper than daycare so I want in. we are new to town and don't know anyone so it is going to be hard to get into.
the extended day sucks so bad. and if you work and the facility does't do extended day you need to arrange transportation to daycare after or get a nanny. Some places here have busses that will drive you to daycare after preschool though.
I have been working on apps for a week. The questions are ridiculous and stressing me out. But if we don't apply now, the boys may not get a spot. If they don't get a spot in a feeder pre-school, I worry about where they will end up if we don't move to the burbs.
It doesn't help that pretty much all the moms of April babies that I know are applying to the same 4 preschools. The same ones that every family in Boston wants to get into. Awesome.
I just wanted to add that I sympathise too. DS1's school is IMPOSSIBLE to get into unless you start from age 3 in the preschool. Unless you're an old scholar or have siblings there, there's no getting in for 1st Grade. So everyone rushes in for the preschool. I put DS1's name down as soon as I got PG. And it's about $10k currently. Probably more by the time DS2 starts. sigh.
