My grandpa ended up in the hospital on August 9th. August 10th he was in ICU because of breathing problems. I decided that I wanted, no, NEEDED to see him once more. So I booked a flight for that evening. It was a red eye, but I figured Wy would sleep most of the flight.
So we had to fly from Edmonton to Calgary (45 min flight), then from Calgary to London, ON. We were to arrive at 600am. The first flight was awesome. 45 minutes of nothing exciting. The second flight... Wy fell asleep in his stroller in the airport and he was easily transported onto the plane. Then a flight attendant touched him. And woke him. And he FREAKED. Like as in the whole 3 and a 1/2 hour flight freakout. MEga meltdown. On a red eye. I have NEVER been so stressed my WHOLE life. The lady across from me (in the other side of the aisle) told me to "shut my fucking kid up", the gentleman behind me kicked my seat HARD and more than once. I was in tears.
So we arrive, go to the hospital, surprise my family (they had no idea i was coming), and spent the day there.
That evening we went to Windsor to visit my grandma and aunt. I got to dine with rxbeth ! She is AMAZING and I hope you ALL get to meet her and Madison. Madison is the cutest child I have seen in a LONG time.
So, long story short, I refused to fly back alone, so my sister joined me. And stayed 2 weeks (she left this morning). Have I told you my sister is 21? And I am 32?! And we are half sisters?!!!!! This is the FIRST time we have gotten along for this long. It was amazing. But she needed to be entertained 24/7.
Then the husband came home. We went to Drumheller (dinosaurs!) and Canmore (Mountains!) and then home.
I am so tired guys. I can't even form sentences. Well I can, but you get my drift.
I am so glad August is over.
And my Grandpa has been sent home for "end of life" care. Doesnt that sound lovely??!!!! Bah.
I'm so sorry for all the awful things you've had to deal with, but it's awesome that you and your sister got a chance to hang out. I'm glad to hear that part went well.
That flight sounds horrible. I'm so sorry!! I'm glad you sister came back with you and you got some quality time together. Sorry about your grandpa too. I'm glad you were able to visit.

I am so sorry about your grandpa. I think it is the sweetest thing that you hopped on a flight as soon as you could to see him. I am glad you got to see him and hug him!
Aww sorry Smudg, you've had a rough month Can't believe how rude people are, on a damn airplane?! what are you supposed to do with your poor child. Grrr that makes me so mad.
I'm sending positive thoughts for your Grandpa (((hugs)))
I'm so sorry about your grandpa but I hope he is more comfortable at home.
That is great that you got along with your sister so well! I actually thought of you today as I ran past your Aunt's road. Next time you're in town, I hope it's under better circumstances and we can have a spectacular playdate. I love Wyatt. His curls are adorable and I can't wait until Madison starts to communicate more like him!

I'm sorry about your grandpa but I'm glad you made the trip.
I'm also now really nervous for our upcoming first flights with the kids. No one will fuck with my giant DH but we will likely not be sitting together...
I'm glad you got some extra support the way back avid afterwards.
Wow... I'm so sorry about your Grandpa And that flight sounds horrible, you poor thing I just had Max scream at us for 2 hours and I can't imagine this on a plane because literally nothing worked. Hugs!
Awww, honey. =( I'm sorry about your grandfather, but it's good that you made it over. I wish I could have been on that plane to punch those people in their stupid faces.

Star took the words out of my mouth ... or out of my typing fingers, I guess.
Sorry, Smudgee. There's a lot of bad karma coming their way. I hope your grandpa is comfortable and happy.
