I've been having pain in my right adductors since a few hours after my long run last Saturday. It hurts to walk. It also hurts to run, although not really any more than walking. I rested yesterday and foam rolled the shit out of it but it's not any better. I'm supposed to do 5 tonight, but I know I need to rest. I'm supposed to do 10 miles on Saturday and then run my first half next weekend.
Am I not going to be able to run my half? I'm so upset, you guys
Thanks for listening. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

I would rest completely until the pain is gone. At this point your training is done. Missing runs won't affect your ability to run your race, but pain or injury will. Rest up!
Rest, res, rest. Don't be silly, if you skip the 10 mielr you can still do the race.
Thank you gt7301b! This is my first half and only my 2nd race ever. I really know very little about training and racing. I didn't know if it would be really stupid to run a half after only running 9 miles as my longest run ever.
Sorry if this was a stupid question. ::hangs newbie head in shame::
I feel better now. :-D I can run the race even if it hurts this much.

It's your first half marathon, you are allowed to freak out. Rest up and get better, you don't want to finish 10, but not be able to complete the race. For future reference I like to peak two weeks before a half and taper the week before. It gives me time to rest and allows for training plan slippage. (Because life happens)
Ditto gt. Rest up! Compression gear really helps me with soreness in that area. CWX is worth the splurge. Good luck!
Thanks for the tip, I'll look into that. This doesn't feel like typical soreness, it feels like it's injured, but maybe it is just sore in a weird new way...I've had some weird things start happening since I increased my mileage, lol!

Thank you! I realize now that a lot of people peak 2 weeks before a half. I didn't know that when I started training, and I just looked at popular plans and decided to do Hal Higdon Novice 1. Next time, I'll try something different!
