Not at all surprised about RnR St. Pete - The course was very similar to the Women's Half. I also don't think it generated the revenue they thought it would.
Between this and ending their elite program, it seems they are in cut mode over there lately. They better leave Savannah alone! lol I have a pricey, non-refundable, vacation rental.

Nothing makes races look worse than cancelling. That being said, I'm feeling like athletic event numbers in general are down all over this year. Several tris in the area that are usual sell outs haven't even come close.
That extra $30 in parking is a lot. We were suprised at the cost for parking at a recent 4mi I did with friends. The race website designated a lot for parking, but never mentioned the price. We made the dumb assumption that they had set up some sort of deal with the lot owner. Nope. $10 for ~2.5 hours (and a super long wait to pay the one machine in the lot).
They better not touch Savannah, I will have to hurt someone.
While I did like the St Pete race I can understand why it was canceled. It's hard to compete when you have Disney in Jan and Gasparilla in March and you're trying to create a race in Feb.

I just realized that you're running Savannah too! I don't think you were when I first asked about it months ago. I thought it was just me and wanderlustmom. Fun!

Yep running the full with like 5 of my friends. Can't wait!
Are you running the full or half? Have you done it before? I heard the course is really flat which sounds good to me.

Is this your first full? I love doing big races with big groups of friends. You'll have so much fun!
I'm signed up for the full. I signed up for it as sort of a spur of the moment decision. There are around 15 people from my running group doing the full or the half & it was only $10 more than the half....so that was my stellar logic. Lol It's 4 weeks after Chicago, so it will depend on how I feel during those weeks in between, but I'll probably go for it. I need variety in my marathon medals. I have one FL & three CA. I'm excited to add IL & GA to the list.
I've never run it, but I have also heard it's pretty flat. I've been told to be careful of footing through the historic area because of the cobblestone, & apparently the full has a less than desirable area on the highway that is mentally tough. It's supposed to be flat & fast though , & I love Savannah. Hopefully we'll get some nice weather!
