So, I'm thinking of signing up for swimming lessons and was wondering what you'd recommend I bring for the first day. Obviously a suit but what else would I need? I'm looking for lessons since I can get from one side of the pool to the other but it isn't pretty. I'd like to be able to swim for fitness since my running has been sidelined so if you have any additional info for me please feel free to leave it.
I just had my first lesson (in 20 years) last week. I went with a suit, cap, goggles and flip flips. Depending on how long your lesson is, you might want a water bottle. Our pool has a drinking fountain on the deck, but a bottle would have been convenient.
Swim suit that will absolutely stay put. No bikini, unless we're talking about the sports-bra-style-top workout kind. U-back one piece also not preferred (straps can slip off your shoulders, or feel like they will). Definitely goggles. Cap preferred. Latex, silicone, and lycra are all ok, depending on your preference. Flip flops if you feel better walking on deck with them.
