For IVF #1 I was given an epidural due to BMI restrictions (totally ridic) & didn't feel right for days after. Like very wobbly on my feet. For IVF 2 & 3 I had the normal drug coktail they give which pretty much knows you out but was functional the next day with just a bit of cramping. My job is sometimes desk, sometimes out & about (psychiatric social work in the community) & I went back to work the day after retrieval for all 3.
I felt okay after the retrieval but not great. Luckily I was on spring break, so I pretty much just rested the next two days. I was pretty crampy and just didn't feel up to anything. I went back to work the day after the transfer, although some doctors say to take the next day off to rest. I felt totally fine after the transfer.

My RE suggests bed rest for the rest of the day post retrieval. I had a lot of eggs so I was pretty sore and glad to do it. I went to my company Christmas party the next night and felt okay. My RE also suggests bed rest for the rest of the day and light duty for the day after the transfer. I did both.
The RE also says there is no scientific reasoning behind the bed rest for either, he just finds that his patients feel like they are doing something to help and it's a psychological boost.
I didn't feel very bad at all the day of the retrieval but still took it easy and rested. The next day my abdomen was pretty sore so I just worked from home. Can't answer the transfer question yet but I read and was told just take it easy and rest for 24 hours so if our transfer is still on for today. I will just be taking tomorrow off work.

I was extremely sore and crampy following my retrieval (which was first thing in the morning), and didn't start to feel right again until the tail end of the day. However, I believe I was over-stimmed based on how many eggs they got. Mine also happened to fall on Thanksgiving day, and had it not, I probably would have planned to go into work (desk job) following, but would have definitely ended up calling out. I took a sick day the day of the transfer, but only b/c I was told to rest--physically, I felt totally fine.
