Depends on if it's IN your poop or just coming from the general area. I have had blood on the tissue paper before but it was from some sort of abrasion on the skin.

Generally if it is red it isn't a big deal. I have had this a lot recently because of pregnancy constipation leading to some super fun hemorrhoids. If it is darker and actually in your poop and not just coming from that general area that is alarming.
I remember reading something about looking at the color- if your poop is really dark with blood, that means it could be from your stomach/colon, but if it's bright red then it means it could be from some kind of fissure or something closer to your anus.
I could be wrong though.
This is correct. If your poop is really black it can mean that it is old blood from your stomach. Red blood means it is something in your intestines/colon.
I had stomach bleeding a few years back due to an ulcer and definitely was seeing black regularly. When I had a lovely hemorrhoid from pregnancy, it was red blood.
I did and ended up having a colonoscopy since my dad had colon cancer, but all turned out well. They will ask you all kinds of questions like if it was bright red, if it was actually *in* your poop as opposed to just being *on* your poop, did you strain when you went, etc.
I just made that post about feeling like I'm treading water, and then I have blood in my poo and my car needed $700 worth of repairs today. I'm just freaking out.
That could be endometriosis. Sometimes endometrial tissue grows in the lower part of the GI tract and will be shed when you move your bowels. It's typically worse just before and at the start of your period.
I'm 36 and literally had a colonoscopy last month for the same issue. I've had a hemorrhoid for awhile but it was usually only a little blood on the tissue. The past few months, it had turned into a TIDE of blood (like all blood and nothing else). Since I'm on blood thinners, my hematologist sent me to a GI doc. His SOP is to give everyone a colonoscopy. (Usually it's 50 for a baseline but it's 40 for those with a family history of polyps or colon cancer.)
The prep was a B*TCH. Seriously, it was the 2 bottle one, split over two days. (pour one bottle into the cup that came with it, water it down to the line on the cup, and then drink 2 more 16 oz cups of water, all within an hour). Drink it close to the bathroom. Chug as much as you can, chase it with cold water and chug the rest. I wasn't even done with the first cup and I had to go potty. The prep was worse than the actual colonoscopy.
After all of that, it's just internal hemorrhoids and nothing more.
My 3 year old had mucously blood in his poop after a bout with diarrhea this summer. I had to take in samples (awesome). It was a bacterial infection that did not need further treatment, we just had to monitor it and it cleared up on it's own in a couple days.

Your doctor is just being cautious. You're fine.
What she said ... I had black turds once and it was from internal bleeding from ulcers. Do you have any other symptoms? I had body aches, no energy, shortness of breath and couldn't even climb the stairs.
Ahh. Yes, I bet these are related. Probably either something still lingering in there or it just did a number on your intestines and they are sensy now.
I'd pretty much bet this has something to do with it. Blood and mucus happened to me last year, he did a scope in office and some stool studies and all he found was a super raw anus with fissures. It healed and all is well.
