So it turns out antidepressants make me anovulatory. Neat. Cool. So all of late winter/early spring I was on them, I wasn't having real periods. I stopped them in May and in July I had a real period. Where I bled on and off clots and tissue for 17 days. I went to the doctor and she was like, yeah, that'll happen. Offered progesterone and I declined since it seemed like things were ending. My period started again August 22nd. And again, it's still going on and off (meaning I'll have a day or two or three with nothing and then BOOM back on). I saw my GP for something unrelated a week ago and he was like yeah, you're body is trying to shed months and months worth of lining, this isn't anything to worry about yet.
But I have ANXIETY and I have been bleeding for.fucking.ever. now. So someone please tell me that this is normal, this happened to them for a couple months and then they were fine.
My annual is next month anyway, so I'll be headed back to the doctor soon enough. I just need to know that I'll go back to normal.
It would be one thing if it started, was heavy and then tapered off for two weeks. That I could understand. But I just went three days with nothing and then went to the bathroom just now and it's a massacre.

Ugh Mary, this sounds so frustrating. I know that period went wonky after being off BC for about three months (the first three months I had no issues at all), so maybe it is just that?
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't read very carefully, and you said ADs and I read BC. IGNORE ME!

I once bled for three months and finally ended up calling my OBGYN's office sobbing (after already calling a couple of times and being told it was fairly normal). The admin who answered my call gave me a lot of hair pats and called me a "poor baby" and told me I should come in immediately.
The only thing that ended up working for me was getting on BC, the NuvaRing. Now, my period is regular and only last about 2-3 days.
It will end, I'm sure. But I can definitely empathize. (((hugs))) I hope it gets better for you soon.

My period is still wonky after a mc waaaaay back in April, but it's at least wonky in a predictable sort of way. I hope this stops soon. It would drive me batty. I can understand why it's giving you anxiety.
If you are anovulatory, why is there months and months of lining? If you don't ovulate, your uterus doesn't build the endometrium, right? Could you get a second opinion? It will probably go away next month, so don't worry about it.
you still build up the endometrium, you just don't shed it.

I am annovulatory due to PCOS so I don't know if this is helpful or not. I would honestly ask for the progesterone (or for me more helpful is the mini pill). For me it regulates the bleeding but still be prepared for fucking horrific periods for the next 2 to 4 cycles. There is a ton of lining to come out. For me though the bleeding won't stop on its own if I have gone that long without a period.
I'm sorry Mary. I'm having bleeding/tissue issues as well and I just wanted to commiserate. It frickin' blows never knowing what your uterus is going to produce.
No, but I had a well documented, bad experience with one.
That sucks I used to get a period every 15 days and pads caused a bad rash and you aren't supposed to wear tampons on no flow days. Diva cup solves both problems for me. But yeah, it may not work for everyone.

This is what I wanted to hear. My cycle is definitely trying to regulate itself based on the dates I'm getting my period now. I'm just like, holy FUCK where is it coming from.
I'm not sure anyone could match your, uh, passion in the telling of that story. It's completely horrifying and fucking hysterical all at the same time.
I have been wearing fucking pads every day waiting to catch it.
Pads. Like I'm 12.
Different circumstances but similar story: mine was menopause-related, but my periods lasted forfuckingever for about four years while I was going through menopause (I'd usualy only get 2 or 3 a year though so there's that.) One was Mothers Day to Independence Day. The following year one started in July and ended in October. They were only resolved with ... I want to say pitocin, but I'm not sure. I called those my "no upholstered furniture days"
Not the same thing, but I was on depo provera for three years and when I went off of it, I shed lining on and off for months, too. I made several trips to my gyno and was assured that it was "normal" (or, at least, to be expected). It's really weird when massive amounts of stuff comes out of you, so it's okay to be alarmed.
I don't know if it is of any concern to you at all, but I also got pregnant on our first try 5ish years later, so I do not seem to have shed my entire uterus, if that's any consolation.
