I'm writing out my schedule for the next few months. I want to incorporate hot yoga (my friends are opening a studio, eeeek!!), but I don't think I can fit it in unless I put it on my rest day. Is that ok? Tell me that's ok.
Ahhh shoot!! I'm sort of XTed out trying to keep a base for IM training to start after the marathon.
Maybe I can do 2 triple days (right now I only have one).
OK NEW QUESTION - Would you do it on the day you do your moderate distanced run? So if LSD is 17, Mod is 8 - how would you feel about stacking it with your 8?
I used to do bikram after moderate long runs (up to 12ish miles). I think it helps. While the heat takes some adjusting, the postures aren't the hardest yoga poses and you can back off a little if you need to. It's a great way to get in a good stretching workout!

Ok! Yes, thank you - this is good news
clseale when do you practice yoga? Don't you do hot yoga?
I do it on rest days and would do it on moderate running days. Now I do power yoga not hot yoga so not sure how that stacks up. Tomorrow is a rest day but Tony Horton and I will be "hanging out" for 50 minutes. I feel really good and stretched out afterwards.
I do heated power flow on any day it fits. Sometimes that is on a rest day, but it usually falls on the short, easy day before longs runs. Ex: tomorrow is an easy 5 + heated power flow, Sunday is 20 miles.

I am not a big runner but do a ton of bikram. There are so many people at our studio who are huge runners and practice bikram on their rest days. They say it really helps their knees and hips especially after long runs. Good luck!!
I do yoga on whatever day that it fits time-wise. I don't do Bikram specifically, although sometimes it is Bikram. I kind of have to do whatever class is offered at the time that I am able to go do it. Most of the yoga classes that I go to seem to stretch out my legs and act as a strengthening exercise for my arms and back, so I don't worry too much about any of the runs surrounding the yoga.
To piggy back off of greenmonster's point, it's great for recovery after the long runs, but even better, I have significantly better long runs when I do yoga the day before. The difference is amazing.

Ooh this is very interesting. I might be able to swing that!
