How big can the personal item be? Do you think either the OG or OMG bag is small enough to use as a personal item rather than a carry on? With my normal carry on (a small rolling suitcase) and the OG or OMG, I think I could get away with not checking a bag on most trips that we take.
If it's used as a purse and doesn't have to be stowed overhead, then it's fine.
I'm not familiar with the bags but I just checked out the website and based on the models, I think the OMG would be more appropriate for a purse carry-on as opposed to the OG. That's a little large.

Long as it can fit underneath the seat (assuming the overhead bins will get primarily suitcases based on my experiences flying) there should be no problem.

I asked this recently and I think 315 (or maybe someone else?) said the OG fits under the seat. You can also check airport/airline websites for the specific dimensions they allow if you're concerned.
I'd assume it's fine although it'd depend on airlines. United specifically says that bookbags are okay as personal items. I use my Longchamp Pliage as my purse when I fly.
If they give you problems at the gate, say "NOOOO, this is my purse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" This is a dramatization for illustration purposes, which I may or may not have done myself.
LOL!!
Also, my husband will REALLY love carrying it if I get the hot pink one

It's really not that big. Even when packed to the gills, it easily fits under a seat. I fly often and have never had a problem using the OG or similarly sized bags as a personal item.
