Those prices are ridiculous. I'm judging.
The scrabble one could be cool if they used maybe just 3 letters and made the size smaller. I wouldn't wear it, but I have friends who definitely would.
Well...I certainly wouldn't say J. Crew started it because statement necklaces have been around since like the beginning of time.Regardless, those are pretty bad, although I don't hate the animal one...but I would only pay like $15 for it, haha.
Yeah, I know, maybe just being sarcastic. So I guess I'll just blame JCrew for the resurgence of the statement necklace
I think statement necklaces have been around forever. Anthropologie has had really neat ones for years but I guess Jcrew's made them more popular/trendy recently (esp. since all of the fake ones are available).
The first two are some serious middle school art teacher crap. I mean that literally...my middle school art teacher wore those fabric covered ball necklaces every day. She made them herself as a side business.
I can't blame J crew for these. They are all statement necklaces, yes but they are very different from the bubble necklaces. KS one probably comes closest in terms of having big gem pieces. The first two are both ugly! I agree with PP about bad pinterest projects. I actually like the scrabble one. The Kate Spade one is not a statement necklace is more of a lecture than a statement cuz it goes on and on and on! Really, why stop there? Keep going Kate.. make it knee length please!
I'm going to be interested to see how Forever21 does knock off's of this crap. It's all too heavy for me. I like statement necklaces but this over board!!

$100 for that bullshit?! All I need to do is dig through my scrap drawer for #1, snag some little toys from the playrooms of some of the kids I work with for #2, and of course ruin my Scrabble game by stealing the tiles for #3.

It would be better if the 3 letters were W,T,and F!
I don't really fault J Crew. This stuff has been around forever and Anthro's accessory store is proof. There's some awesome stuff once you wade through the crap.
