I have heard a little bit about this but I saw this mentioned in an intro post. What is the deal with them and how do people even go about taking them? I feel dumb even posting this but I'm curious.

I googled it because I was thinking - WTF, a common household thing is a crazy drug?! Turns out, it isn't the product that people use in a bath. It's a drug which has gotten the nickname "Bath Salts." I read that it can be taken different ways...snorted, pill, needles, etc. like many drugs.
ETA: I just saw the other post. Obviously the ladies whose Ex's used could offer much more insight than me!
I forget all of the details, but they're not as bad as the media's making them out to be. My friend's a pharmacologist, and he's very educated on this topic. I can find out more info, if you'd like!

They can be dangerous though. I am seeing a lot of patients come into the psych ER because the side effects can mimic symptoms of psychosis. The problem is because it doesn't show up in a tox screen they don't know if the person is bat shit crazy or using bath salts (or other similar drugs). I am heard of people doing crazy stuff while on these drugs (other than chewing people's faces off) i.e. jumping out of windows, cutting themselves, etc.

Oh that's ok, it was just more curiousity. I also figure that XH will sample them at some point in time so I figured I'd want to know what they were all about.
I also had heard about the face eating incident-too crazy!

I have also heard (but don't have any proof) that lawmakers are having a tough time making them illegal since they're synthetic, so it's pretty easy to change the structure up a tiny bit, so it's technically a different compound (but has the same effects).

No, this is accurate. When they try and outlaw a specific formula, the drug makers alter it just slightly so it isn't illegal It is actually quite smart.

Just from personal experience bath salts are very dangerous. When Stbxh started using he could go for days with out sleeping or eating. His personality didn't change but he quickly lost weight and had that sunken eye socket thing going on. Then came the paranoia and delusions. The delusions were so real to him. No matter how many people came to our house to tell him it wasn't real he just kept getting more delusional. He was committed into a locked psych hospital where due to space problems was let out way to early. He is now drug tested monthly but like previously posted the drug does not come up on most of the widely used drug screens. He admitted to his Dr that he had used the drugs but claims he is no longer on the drug. He still is having delusions. The Dr believes that it is possible that he has stopped the drug and as consequence he will suffer with delusions forever. The worst part about this drug is how easy and cheap it is. It's sold in gas stations. It's sold online and mails directly to your house. And now dealers are mixing it into other drugs to make a product go further.
And now I'm a bit pissy bc I know way to much about drugs and I've just said no my entire freaking life.
Yeah, I never heard anyone say bath salts were not dangerous. That thing is extreme. Way worse than coke, meth... And the thing is you never know what's actually in it. They keep changing the formula once some ingredients become illegal.
I didn't mean to imply they're not dangerous. I only meant that the zombie cannibal stories aren't the norm, and the media's milking that for all it's worth.

My Stbxh threw a large pot of boiling water on a kid in our tree bc the kid was taunting him. The kid wasn't real thank god. But he Did throw a large pot of boiling water on the tree with the intent of hurting the child. My guess is there are more cases of such extremes but in the case of the zombie face guy he actually attacked a real person instead of the delusions that so many bath salt addicts are fighting. Kwim?
