I was at a meeting with DD1 in the library at her elementary school. The kids were sitting down on a rug and the parents were sitting toward the back at tables. It was very crowded and I didn't have a direct sight line to DD. Apparently she was giggling with another kid. Now, I have no problem with someone telling her to be quiet, asking her to move away, or even taking her by the hand and moving her. But don't you DARE grab my kid by the shoulders and toss her across the rug. That is literally what she did.
The mom half-ass apologized a few minutes later, but mostly blamed it on an abcess tooth that is causing her pain. I don't care if your mother fucking legs just spontaneously disconnected from your body. Don't grab my kid like that. And when DD started crying after it happened, she rolled her eyes and said "oh please."
The icing on the cake is that this mom is a library aide at the school. If your fuse is that short, perhaps working with children is not your calling.
I don't want to be *that* kindergarten mom who is a helicopter parent and complains about stuff, but this is not an overreaction, right? I am acquainted with the VP of Volunteers at the school and she saw what happened, so she'd probably be my first go-to.
I would be livid. You don't touch my child without my permission, ESPECIALLY if you are not her teacher! I would have given her the best bitch-face I could muster, and I would email the VP post haste.
Oh, there were words. Front and center in the middle of the meeting. I cut it short so as to not cause a scene. But she was real close to a bloody nose.
I would have made sure she was bloody. You aren't that parent. She was physical with your child, be out for blood. (Blood does not have to mean real blood, get her banned from working at the school)

You handeled it way better than i would have!! I would have made a scene. First of all do not touch my child & second, do not roll your eyes when you make her cry. I would have knocked out that abcessed tooth and solved all her problems!!
Wait, she shoved her across the rug? WTF. What did everybody else do?
Clearly that's wrong, this isn't even a question.
It seemed like many other parents just had stunned looks on their faces. But I wasn't really paying super close attention to what was happening around me by that time. Just trying to keep myself out of jail.

Yeah, that's understandable.
Wow, I would be pretty speechless, too. Holy shit.
Teacher wasn't there. Just parents and a couple moms who are in charge of the extracurricular activity we were at the meeting for. I don't even know yet who the head librarian is or I might have spoken to her after the meeting about her peach of a volunteer.

More details. Your kid was talking and the aide grabbed her. Shoved her? Threw her (like, did her butt lift up off the floor?)?
Either way, I'd raise hell. I guess I'd want to know how many other parents saw it, and what exactly they saw, since you didn't have a direct line of sight. Any school employee who touches a child like that should be fired. Period.
I would have probably knocked her abcessed tooth right out of her mouth. Along with a few others. I'd definitely raise hell over this, especially if she works with the kids.

Picked her up by the shoulders/upper arms and forcefully moved her. Butt off the ground. I hadn't been actively trying to look at DD before it happened since I was paying attention to the meeting, but I did see the incident happen because it was a scene and my attention was drawn to it.

She's a mom, not even a teacher? I'm not sure what they can do to her but I would certainly find out.
Someone better fucking do something. If this bitch has the gall to do this when she knows the child's parent is nearby, I don't even want to think about what else she may do the next time she has a fucking toothache and she thinks no one is looking. Fuck her. She has to go. Now.

You absolutely should advise the school. Don't grab is the very first rule when working with kids. I don't have the patience to work with children as evidenced by what I am about to say... I would have very loudly told her "Don't EVER touch my child!"

If this makes me a helicopter mom, so be it, but yeah, I'd totally mention it to someone in charge, especially if there was another witness. I'd also be really tempted to sign up to be another library aide, right next to CrazyCakes. "oh, you don't need another volunteer at that time? No, I INSIST! I LOVE LIBRARIES! Here, let me show her how reorganize the card catalogue, on the other side of the room and away from all kids, mine included."

I did say that very loudly in the middle of the meeting, with my finger in her face. Don't mess with me or my kid. I pay back.
