Exterminators came yesterday. Because we (including the cat) had to be out of the house a minimum of 6 hours and they finished at 5:30pm - we took a hotel room for the night.
It's a damned good thing we had no luggage and the only clothing we had is what we were wearing because there were BED BUGS IN THE HOTEL ROOM!!!! I was woken up at 2:30 this morning because of the itching. I've been up since.
The apartment is now a disorganized mess of white plastic bags and we can't unpack our home for 6 weeks. I have no idea where anything is.
And yesterday we took the cat to the vet. In 3 weeks he lost 2lbs. The vet thinks it's a matter of days, especially since he's really not eating or drinking. We got him some sub-q fluids while we made the decision of "when." Tomorrow H is taking him to his cousin (who is our usual vet) for a second opinion. We had called her yesterday to see if she would come to us to put him to sleep so it wouldn't be done in an office. Upon hearing all that was going on with him, she wanted to check him out herself first. PF's first word was "kitty."
Now I'm at work, downing a 32oz iced coffee and trying not to rip out my hair.

partiallysunny - I just saw that. I'm so sorry you are going through a lot of the same things. ~hugs~ and I hope you and your kitty are at peace with what had to happen.
Holy fuck Dixie. I think you get to call a do-over for the whole week.
Can't bed bug bites be delayed a few days, meaning maybe they weren't actually in the hotel room, but you already had them and they didn't appear until last night? Either way, I'm sorry. If I were you I would want to burn everything and start from scratch, but I know that probably isn't possible. Insurance should cover this shit, dammit.

I hope you can find peace with your kitty.
They *can* be delayed but I'm also hyper-reactive to insect bites. 2 weeks without a bite showing up (1 week in the desert and 1 week on an air mattress in the living room) and seeing a blood smear this morning on the hotel sheet makes me lean towards the assholes being there.
Luckily our management company is covering the cost of the exterminator. and we're going to see in our renter's insurance will cover any of the out of pocket stuff we've had to do.
