So when we go to play groups or indoor/ outdoor play areas, if there are other kids Wyatt's age around, he would rather play alone. Even if the kids try to engage him in activities, he 9 time out of 10 wanders away and proceeds to play alone. This is normal at his age right?

Normal. Yesterday I stayed and watched C's preschool class and they all did their own thing and were for the most part uninterested in one another. The only time they showed any interest in each other is when one was crying, lol.

My pedi said this was normal. He also said it's normal for toddlers to not engage with other toddlers their age but they might take to older children better.

Jamie loooooves older kids. He follows them around the playground and is so happy if they play with him. Sometimes he'll play with kids his own age, but it's usually more of a side by side thing.
