I finally got around to taking Zoe to the hospital lab to get her bloodwork (iron and lead) done. She was a champ. The worst part of the whole experience was the waiting room. Poor child, I wouldn't let her run around like a maniac. She's got good veins, so it only took them a second to find one to use, and she only jerked back a tiny bit when they put the tourniquet on. Otherwise, no tears or fussing.
Good job Zoe! Jackson screamed like a banshee during his blood draw. It took me, the nurse, and the blood guy holding him down to get it. I hope I don't have to go through that too often.
Good job, Zoe! C was a champ at every appt until his 12 month blood draw. They stick him in both arms, dug around, couldn't get a vein, and finally sent us to an outside phlobotomist. He's freaked the eff out ever since. We were in for a sick visit recently (FYI: scary, shiny black poop could just be too much kale, contrary to Dr. Google's certain death prognosis), and he started screaming and trying to escape the moment we walked into an exam room.
Good job Zoe! This reminds me that I have to take Silas before his next well check. He's going to lose his shit and I'm not looking forward to it. I nannied for twins back in my early 20's and I had to accompany them to a blood draw. Apparently they were familiar with the horrors of the place because as soon as we walked in one of the girls started nervously pacing the waiting room saying "oh no. Ohhh nooo. Oh no" it was so sad.
