Mine was sore for awhile after the dtap (or tdap, whichever is the adult one). I thought it was the tetanus part of the shot, but could have been the pertussis part.
Mine was really sore for the few days after and then it was fine.

I don't remember mine hurting. I got it after I delivered my daughter (before i was released from the hospital). My husband got his done on base at medical after she was born too and he never complained about pain.
Are tdap's still good for 10 years? I just goggles and the results were not conclusive. I got the booster in 2008 and I'm wondering if 5 years is too long.
They are good for 10 years unless you have a "penetrating injury" and then you get it at 5. Think nail through the shoe, bad car accident, or other trauma.
ETA: if you go to the hospital for said injury, they will give you the vaccine if its been at least 5 years.
