My H called me from his work today to tell me he was on his way to the ER. He was using a nail gun that mis-fired or something, and it shot a nail through the end of his finger. He had to get 10 stitches and they aren't sure if it will heal on its own, or if they'll have to take his fingertip of at the knuckle.

I did that to our coach once - I felt awful. He was even pitching from behind a net. Ouch!
My H called me once and said "I need you to meet me at the job site and take me to the ER." I threw DS1 (3 weeks old!) into his carseat and raced over there, picking up my sister on the way so she could sit out with the baby. He knocked his drill off of a counter and went to catch it. Yeah, good idea, H! He caught it - with the drill bit into the palm of his hand. He didn't need any stitches because it was more of a puncture wound than a cut. They did irrigate it, though. And because they didn't think it was "that deep" they didn't numb him beforehand. I've never seen my H so mad and so hurt, as he was yelling in pain. My sister texted me, "is that H?!?!" from in the waiting room. They apologized profusely and numbed him up right away. Poor guy.
