I let a pot burn dry on the stove the other day, now the bottom inside is all spotty and there's some burn marks on the outside. Will anything remove the burnt or is it done for?

If the inside of the pot isn't finished with anything or it's burnt off anyway, you can use spray-on Oven-Cleaner and let it sit. The burnt spots just wipe off.
My friend told me to fill the pot with ice and dump a shitload of salt over it and swish around as it melts. It does work but it is kind of a pain. I think I may try the oven cleaner trick above next time (Because in my house and the way I cook there is always a next time)

My H has done this to our tea kettle I can't tell you how many times. I usually just let a mixture of baking soda and warm water soak in the bottom of the kettle for a while, then scrub. I think I've used Bon Ami before, too.

If it's not a non stick pan, you can use bar keepers friend or cameo. If that doesn't work, get a S.O.S pad. I use them on my stainless pans whenever they start looking icky.
