Edie's going through a phase where she will.not.sit.down in the bathtub during her baths. When she first discovered that she could stand up and walk around, I would say "OK, are you all done?" trying to teach her that standing in the bath = bathtime fun ends. That worked for awhile. For the past few weeks she refuses to sit, no matter what I do or say. She can't run around in there because our tub is slick and she falls. Bathtime has become a miserable crying fest where I'm trying to wash her up as quickly as possible and it's no fun for anyone.
Has anybody else conquered bad bathtime behavior? What worked for you?
We are pretty strict about it but we bathe together. I put them on their bottoms maybe 5 times, maybe, depending on attitudes about it -- then I do a quick rinse and pull them out of the tub.
Everything is temporary w this stuff, though, so while it's pull your hair out frustrating now, it will be short lived. I am pretty confident

I'm trying to avoid getting a non-slip mat. We live in an old house and we recently had our bathtub sandblasted and reglazed. One of the instructions for care is not to use suction cup or adhesive type mats on the bottom. I'm nervous I'll ruin it.
I'll try using more water.
And yes, it probably is just a phase, like everything else with these little munchkins!
I think if you are a little quicker, a little stricter, it may be shorter lived. We are firm, but again, we have the whole "don't knock your brother into the water" fear.
However, Marcus has become a champ at moving around the tub while staying on his bottom. It's kind of cool, lol.
Ada did this for a long time but she hasn't the last few baths. When she stands I say Ada we need to sit, and make her sit back down. If she keeps standing up I end the bath.

I let him stand. We have non slip mat that DH uses but I don't. It's just not a battle I'm going to fight. He has fun standing at the faucet and playing with the water. Him standing makes it easier on me to bathe him actually.

+b+My H does not tolerate the standing in the tub. As long as she doesn't try to run around I normally don't care too much because she gets bored quickly and asks to get out.

I'm jealous you are just now entering this stage. It is just a stage Brady has been standing in the bath for 7 months but I think that has to do with me taking showers. He has had a couple of falls but has been fine. His new thing is opening the curtain when were in the shower and twisting in it.
